Spring Social Fun!

Thank you to everyone who helped organize and everyone who attending our Spring Social last evening!

Thank you to our PTO board for organizing the Dilly Bars and thank you to Nikki Hoch for chairing the book fair. Mrs. Burr had lots of fun with families who came to design and build at our maker stations! CORE 2062 enjoyed the evening with you all and they were keeping an eye out for new robot drivers.

We hope everyone who attended enjoyed the time with their family!

Staffing Updates

Have you heard? We have two retiring staff members after this school year. Sherry Martina, kindergarten teacher, and Dora Illanas, custodian, are both retiring after the end of our school year. We are excited for what lies ahead for them and look forward to celebrating with them through the end of the school year.

Mrs. Holt will be teaching our third section of kindergarten next year! She's excited to join the team and looks forward to meeting new parents in the fall.

Parent Support of Positive Behavior

We know the month of May can get pretty hectic for families. Spring sports, spring concerts, spring socials all throw family schedules off. As the year winds down, we appreciate everyone's efforts in making sure your children are getting a good night's sleep and getting outside to play whenever the weather cooperates so they can come to school ready to learn. We have so much to celebrate this year as each classroom has grown into a family of students who care about each other. We will continue to provide supports for students throughout the end of the year to promote positive behavior and thank you for your support.

Backpack Coalition

The BackPack Coalition has helped students be prepared for the first day of school for over 20 years. Last year the Backpack Coalition gave away 4,916 filled backpacks for students from nine different school districts, including Waukesha.

Applications are now available to receive a free school backpack and school supplies for the 2019-2020 school year. Many but not all items per the school’s supply list will be included. Students in the Waukesha School district that meet the qualification requirements (listed below) are eligible to apply.

If you are interested in getting a backpack for your child, applications are due by the last day of school. More information is linked HERE.

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
