Findley Flyer 1/19/2023
Engage.Connect.Grow
Dear Findley Families,
During our January remote learning day/professional development day, our teachers and staff engaged in professional learning. Most of our teachers attended required LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) and began training on the new math standards for fall 2023. You can find out more information about the new K-12 math standards here.
We hope to see you at the State of the School meeting on Thursday, January 26. We will offer a morning and evening session (8 am and 5 pm). This meeting will provide an overview of our 2022 CCRPI scores for content mastery and readiness, what will change with next year's score, what we are currently doing to grow our students, and more.
Thank you for all that you do!
Camille Christopher

Book Roundup Donations
Do have children's books that you no longer use?
Donate them to the Media Center for our upcoming Book Roundup! This event will be an opportunity for all Findley Oaks students to select books to read- and keep.
We need picture books and chapter books for PreK to 5th grade - new or gently used. Please do not donate board books or materials geared toward middle and high school students or adults. Donations can be dropped off at the front office.
Young Georgia Authors Competition
Young Georgia Authors
The purpose of the YGA Writing K-12 Competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics.
Findley Oaks is very excited to participate in the Young Georgia Authors contest this year. If your child would like to participate, please see the rules and requirements linked HERE. All entries must to be turned in to the front office by January 27th 2023. School level winners will be announced by February 3rd.

COMMUNITY NEWS
The JCHS Drama Department and Drama Boosters are very excited for our upcoming production of The Little Mermaid in February! In anticipation of the musical, we are hosting an Under the Sea Tea on Saturday, January 28th at Johns Creek High School and want to invite you and your children to join us! We are increasing the age limit to include 4th and 5th grades, so now boys and girls ages 3 years old through 5th grade can attend! Each session runs 1 ½ hours, and we can only accommodate 60 students per session, so space is limited. Tickets can be purchased on jchstheatre.com through Tuesday, January 24th. Spots are still available in every session!
