What does lung cancer look like?
Who can get lung cancer?
Typically people who smoke are at the biggest risk for lung cancer but veterans have a chance because of environmental carcinogens. Lung cancer is very rare for people under the age of 45 and normally occurs around the age of 70.
How is lung cancer treated?
A lot of times to treat lung cancer they will have surgery to remove the tumor. They also use radiation to kill or shrink the cancer and chemotherapy to kill the fast growing cells. Doctors will chose the treatment based on how advanced the patients lung cancer is.
What is the lung cancer survival rate?
The 5 year survival rate for lung cancer is 54% if detected while the cancer is only in the lungs but for tumors that have spread to other organs the 5 year survival rate is only 4%.
