Important Dismissal Information

In order for the afternoon dismissal to be safe and efficient, we ask all parents/guardians to adhere to the following procedures. All students not going on the bus should be picked up in the car pick-up line.

Safety is our primary concern. We must be able to account for each child and where he/she is going every single day. With 500 students exiting the building at dismissal, it is difficult to account for all students if many adults are walking up to the building and taking their children from dismissal areas. Recently, we have been seeing an increase in the number of parents who are parking their cars and walking up to the pick-up line. This has become a safety concern from two perspectives. First, this puts pedestrians in the driveway as cars are exiting from the pick-up line into the parking lot. Second, as mentioned above, it makes accounting for the whereabouts of all students difficult for the staff on duty. In order to mitigate these safety concerns, all parents who drive to school to pick up their children must enter the car pick-up line to do so. Parents or guardians who park their cars and walk to the pick up line will be asked to wait until all of the cars in the pick-up line have left before their children will be dismissed.

Also, parents/guardians need to inform their children’s teachers if their child is not taking the bus. Any changes to dismissal need to be communicated to the MRE office before 2:30. Changes to dismissal cannot be made after 2:30. This ensures there is enough time to contact the teacher and notify the students of the change.

On a typical day, dismissal begins at 3:05 PM (12:15 PM on early release days). At this time all students will exit the building either to the car pick-up line or to the buses.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in following these procedures in order to maintain a safe and efficient dismissal for our students each and every day.

Change of Dismissal? Please tell us!

It is imperative for parents/guardians to inform their student’s teacher if their child is changing their typical dismissal plan. Please do so by emailing the night before a change or send in a note with the student the day of the change. Our amazing teachers are busy working with students during the day and are not always able to check their email. If an emergency arises and a change must be made, please call the main office by 2:30. Thank you!
