Global Read Aloud
This book involves a main character with autism. We are learning a lot about autism and how we can better communicate with our autistic friends at Eastwood and in our community.
Part of our global journey will involve Skyping with a classroom from another country. Shh, it's a surprise where they are located (that will be part of their lesson), but it's a country north of ours ;).
Clever
Additional links for academic practice can be found through their Clever portal. Each student has a Clever badge for quick log in to resources like Overdrive, Lexia, and Typing Agent. In addition, they can click on their class link to access even more resources for learning organized by subject.
Need an additional Clever badge to log in at home? Have your child let me know and I can print an additional one for them to take home.

Language Arts
This week we will focus on narrative writing! Students will be coming up with topics that they can explore when creating their own narrative piece in class. One of our main focuses will be learning how to write a clear a topic sentence to support our ideas.
Math
We will continue to take apart and explore numbers all the way into the thousands this week. We will carry over our knowledge of the different ways to represent a number such as word form, picture form, expanded form, and standard form.
Social Studies
We are wrapping up our amazing Geography unit this week! We have put in a lot of hard work, research, and fun as we learned about our amazing world and will be finishing our amazing globes and research!
Science
This month we will focus on our first science unit: Earth's Systems. We will take a closer look at the landforms that make up our planet, how erosion works and shapes our world over time, and what can cause quick changes to the Earth's surface!
3rd Grade
Math
On Monday, your child is bringing home their first math pre-quizzes. These types of quizzes will come home to you regularly throughout the school year. When they come home your child should be able to articulate where they showed strong understanding and where they need to focus in order to continue to make growth and to "level up".
Please take time to look at these together and ensure your child knows what to be focused on during our next math time in class. Ask them to show you the resources on our third grade website that they can use in order to practice.
