Updated Contact Information

If your contact information or your child's emergency contacts have changed over the course of the school year, please be sure to contact the main office to update your information. Valid contact information is vital this year in the event that your child becomes ill at school or if we need to make contact with you.

Yearbook Orders

This year, due to COVID and the restrictions in place, you will be able to order a CIS yearbook online at: www.geskusphoto.com/?YB=4041 Ordering online will help to keep down the exchange of paper and money between GPI, the students and the school. The cost of each yearbook is $10.00. Online ordering will be available up until the yearbook goes to print (we will let you know when that happens). After the yearbook is printed you will still be able to order a yearbook, but there will be a shipping fee and it will be mailed directly to the address you provide when ordering. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Math Whiz!

Mrs. Ball's students complete a 15 x 15 multiplication table every Friday. This is a 10-minute, timed activity. This week, Isaac Perez completed this activity with no mistakes! Congratulations Isaac!

NWEA Measure of Academic Progress Reports

Teachers sent home your child's Winter NWEA MAP scores in Friday Folders this past week. NWEA is a tool that we use to help us measure your child's growth throughout the school year and from year to year. The family report that was sent home provides you with a brief overview of your child's current levels. If you have more questions, you can explore the family toolkit for NWEA here. This resource will explain in depth how these assessments promote academic growth.

Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Feb. 23rd from 4:30pm - 7:30pm. Due to our current restrictions, conferences will be held virtually or via phone and will be by Invite Only.

You will receive conference notes from your student(s) teacher. They will inform you if they have concerns regarding your child's progress in class and provide you with the information to schedule a virtual conference if needed. Students that are performing well in class will not require a conference, however as always if you would like to meet with a teacher, please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Late Start - Wed. Feb. 24th

Conduct Daily Health Screenings

In accordance with Board of Education policies, our Return to Learn plans and direction from local, state and federal health officials, if your student has any of the following symptoms, you must keep them home from school!

  • temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
  • sore throat
  • an uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing
  • the onset of a severe headache
  • diarrhea and/or vomiting
  • unusual belly pain
  • new loss of taste or smell

IMPORTANT: Based on Board policies and written guidance from local, state and federal health officials, in order for your child to return to school after experiencing one or more of the above symptoms a parent/guardian must provide a negative COVID-19 test result or a doctor’s note releasing the student to attend school. If you do not provide a negative COVID-19 test result or doctor’s note, then your student will be excluded from Coloma Community Schools for ten (10) days from the first day they had symptoms. They must also be fever free for 24 hours and/or their symptoms have improved after the ten (10) day exclusion period before they can return.
Daily Student Health Screenings for Symptoms

Outdoor Recess

As the weather gets colder, please remember that we still have outdoor recess. Students should come to school prepared with warmer clothing and winter gear. We don't want anyone to be cold when they are outside getting some fresh air!

Birthday Treats

We love to celebrate our students' birthdays and we love treats! Please only bring in treats that are store bought and individually wrapped. Store bought cupcakes and cookies are awesome! But, please make sure they are individually wrapped. We are seeing some treats come into the building that are store bought, but NOT individually wrapped.

Please Wash Your Masks!

Mask Reminder

We issued each child 2 masks on their first day of school this year. We have also provided additional masks as needed both cloth and paper. It is important that your child is bringing a mask every day just like their usual school supplies.
Cold and Flu Season

The cold and flu season is almost here! Please keep your student(s) home if they are not feeling well. The attached article gives some guidance on how to prevent the spread of germs. Please take a minute to read it.
