CMAS Testing Dates
The Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessment is coming up! This assessment is given to all 3rd through 11th graders in the state of Colorado. CMAS measures the achievement and growth surrounding the Colorado Academic Standards. We utilize the results to identify trends in student learning in order to inform our professional practices. This year, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be taking the Mathematics and English Language Arts assessments on April 7th, 8th, and 9th. Our 8th graders will be taking the Science Assessment on April 14th and 15th.
Please save these dates; your child’s participation and attendance is extremely important! If you have questions regarding the information above, please do not hesitate to call us at (970) 686-8200.
Dress Code Policy Reminders
With the changing weather comes the change in student attire. Please be mindful of our dress code policy as stated in our student handbook.
“Students are to come to school as neat and clean as possible. Student dress should be appropriate and safe. Half shirts, spaghetti straps, sagging pants and bandanas are not permitted. Sleeveless shirts/tank tops are not permitted for boys. Tank top straps for girls clothing are to be two inches or more in width. Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length or longer. Yoga pants and leggings may be worn, if covered by an article of clothing extending to fingertip length. Tears or holes in pants must not be inappropriate or revealing. Shirts displaying a student’s stomach, chest or back are not permitted. Additionally, undergarments should not be visible at any time. No hats, caps or chains are to be worn in the building. Clothing with inappropriate or suggestive words, slogans, symbols or images will not be permitted. Any attire or accessory such as facial jewelry (nose, lip, and eye piercing), hairstyle or hair color that is distracting to the learning process will not be allowed. The school will have the final say on whether the dress is appropriate. Students will change into school provided attire until appropriate clothing can be provided. Detention may be assigned for repeated infractions.”
Please call or email the office with questions at (970) 686-8200 or wms@weldre4.org.
Monitoring Coronavirus
Weld RE-4 is monitoring the global Coronavirus outbreak.
We are aware that the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a statement advising communities to prepare for a domestic outbreak of COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus. To-date, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Colorado.
However, building on best practices and official health recommendations, Weld RE-4 is continuing its long-standing practices of disinfecting high-touch surfaces and is involved in local and statewide efforts to develop a coronavirus-response plan.
During an outbreak Weld RE-4 schools would follow the health department’s lead on any quarantines, closures, or other health measures needed. Our focus would be, as it always is, on how to ensure the safety of students and staff, and how education can continue if any of those situations were to arise.
Remember that at this time of year, there are many causes of respiratory illnesses, including the common cold and influenza. We encourage everyone in our school communities to wash their hands often with soap and water, cover coughs and sneezes, and clean frequently touched surfaces and objects.
Please review these CDC guidelines for handwashing. We encourage families to keep kids home if they are sick and for staff to stay home if they are ill. Please notify your school if your child needs to stay home sick and, if possible, share their symptoms. If they have a positive influenza diagnosis, please share that information.
We will be working closely with local, state and national health officials to monitor this situation and will provide additional communication as it is available. For the most up-to-date information on COVID-19, please visit the Centers for Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.
