2019 Staff Reception Highlights

In Case You Missed It....

Thanks to all who made it out last night for the 2018-2019 end of year celebration. For those who couldn't be with us, we missed you and we hope to see you next year. (I apologize again about having to schedule the same day as 5th Grade Camp, I really tried to avoid it!) The food was wonderful and the company was amazing, I hope everyone had a great time. Thanks to Sheldon and Ruby for their wonderful emcee abilities. Now for a recap of the real stars of the evening!

This year's teacher of the year award was presented to a K-1 looping teacher who humbly makes a difference everyday for her students and her peers. Stefanie Hart has been at the Estes Park School District since 2006, and continues to shine bright in the lives of all of the children and families she works with.

Local artist and photographer, James Frank, donated and presented Stefanie with a beautiful framed photograph of Mills Lake at last night's reception. Very much deserved!

Classified Employee of the Year: Wendy Rashid

This year our Classified Employee of the Year is someone who is amazing at giving of her time and talents to all those around her, staff and students alike.

Principal Janet Fanning presented Wendy with the award and gave a moving and heartwarming speech about how much she gives. Wendy has been with the Estes Park School District since 2007 and over those 12 years, she has kept the office running like a well oiled machine. Calm, kind, dedicated and ready to step up whenever needed, always with a smile on her face. Thanks for all you do Wendy! We would be lost without you.

Community Service to Education Award: Joe Bottoms

Joe was instrumental this year in bringing Estes Park Elementary and the community together through the 3rd grade trout in the classroom project. Joe organized the entire project, coordinated and set up the Polar Plunge fundraiser for the elementary school and community to help fund the aquariums and supplies for the project, and came in to teach hands-on lessons (including a fish dissection project).

In addition to coming to school to plan and teach, Joe came to the school EVERY DAY following the trout eggs arrival. He also came into school twice a day during Spring Break and during our snow days. In addition, he organized a field trip that will help to restore fish creek, which our students will eventually release our trout into.

The impact that Joe has had on our students has been immense. We are going to miss him!

Community Service to Education Award: Estes Park Education Foundation Steering Committee

The Estes Park Education Foundation has become a reality this year after much planning and we have an amazing group of people to thank for their tireless efforts and many hours logged to make it happen. Last night we honored Bev Bachman, Toni Brese, Alissa Anderson and Kristen Hill (missing from our photo from last night since she was at our 5th Grade Camp Out!) for their dedication to the Foundation Steering Committee. Thank you ladies!

Congrats on Retirement to John Gehlhaus!

We honored bus driver John Gehlhaus at last night's event as we wish him well in his retirement. John has been with the Estes Park School District for 12 years, but has been driving bus for over 35 years. He has been an amazing part of our staff, and he and his wife are going off to explore Europe! We wish him the best and thank him for his amazing service and dedication to the staff and students of our district.

Thank you Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory donated 100 of their delicious caramel apples for our event. What a sweet treat! Thank you for your support of our staff and teachers!
