Short Story

Ella woke up in the morning to see the sun open it's eyes to greet the day. (personification)She had a basketball game today in Columbus and was really excited. All of the sudden, it started raining cats and dogs! (idiom) It was crazy! She really needed to get to her game so, she got on the road. She was bored to her mind in the 90 minute car ride, so she started to read the street signs. One of them read, "Frog parking ONLY!!! Others will be TOAD!" (pun) She thought about that for a while and then started laughing hysterically! Ella's mom told her that they will be there in 2 minutes, so Ella got her game face on. She got even more excited! When she arrived at her basketball game, she started warming up with her team and after a while, the game started. Ella wasn't doing so good today and she was kind of grumpy. Her coach told her to forget about it and move on and she did. She had the ball and there was only 5 seconds left, with a tie game. Ella had the ball and was wide open, so she decided to shoot a three-pointer. The shot was good! It went in! Ella's three-pointer was smoother than Steph Curry's! (allusion) After making the game winning shot, everyone cheered and hugged Ella! Her smile was a mile wide! (hyperbole)
