MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LAMBERT
Dear Parents,
Summer School this year will be from June 17 to July 12 (no school on July 4 & 5), from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. We will once again be combining with Theuerkauf Elementary for summer school and Olimpico Learning will once again be implementing the summer school. This STEM Summer School combines hands-on science with math and language arts and is a fun and engaging few weeks of continued learning for the students. This is not a remedial summer school; it is an opportunity for students to engage in great science and engineering opportunities. We have space for 25 students from each grade. Transportation is provided from Mistral to Theuerkauf.
Summer School is open to all students in grades K-4. Grade 5 students will receive information from the district for the district-wide programs that are open to them.
Look for the permission forms in backpacks on Monday, April 1st.
Warm Regards,
Theresa Lambert, Principal

From the County: Measles notice
On March 26, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department confirmed one case of measles in an international traveler visiting the county. Individuals who are not immune to measles AND who visited certain sites may be at risk of developing measles due to exposure.
Santa Clara County benefits from very high rates of vaccination against measles. Most people received two doses of measles vaccine (“MMR vaccine”) as children and are protected. However, parents of unvaccinated children, unvaccinated adults, and those with weakened immune systems are advised to review the list of sites and times individuals may have been exposed below. Children at risk may include infants who are too young to receive the vaccine, children who cannot receive measles vaccine due to weakened immune system (for example, due to organ transplant or chemotherapy), or other unvaccinated children.
For a list of exposure sites and more information, visit https://www.sccgov.org/sites/phd/news/Pages/measles-3-26-19.aspx. If you have concerns or questions about your or your child's health, please contact your health care provider.
Life after college
Join us for an evening with higher education expert and author, Jeff Selingo, the former top editor of the Chronicle of Higher Education as he explores what happens to our children after they graduate from college and how the path today looks very different from the journey we, as parents, took a generation ago.
Jeff’s talk will address:
what parents (and students) need to know so students can be better prepared to both thrive in college and beyond
what students need to know and how to prepare for the changed landscape of college and employment recruiting.
Jeffrey J. Selingo has written about higher education for two decades. He is the author of three books, a contributing writer at the Washington Post and The Atlantic, and a professor of practice and special advisor at Arizona State University.
