Proctor Elementary
Distance Learning Announcements and Updates, 10/2/20
A Message for Principal Ghereben
Thank you for another great week of Distance Learning!
As we head into the this new month, please make note of these reminders in order make your child the most successful they can be in their virtual classroom;
- Students are to be dressed in school clothes and fed before the day begins and, if possible, provide them with a quiet learning spot. Synchronous time should be viewed the same as in-class/school instruction. Let's show our Proctor Pride!
- In addition to this being a time for the teachers to provide instruction, it is also your child’s time to develop independence in their learning. Please let your child interact and engage without any feedback or prompting from you. This will allow the teacher to accurately gauge their needs and offer support.
- Most importantly, any discussion that you would like to have with your child’s teacher, should be done at a pre-arranged time; not during synchronous instruction time.
As we all know, these are unprecedented times and all of us have been impacted in some way. I read an article about a college student who developed an app that lists all available resources for every county in California – what a smart idea! Here is the link for resources in Alameda County. The database includes links for Education, Food, Housing, Health, Financial Assistance, Utilities, Legal Aid and Mental Health resources. Check it out; it’s really quite comprehensive and helpful. Our Elementary Counselors have also compiled some suggestions and resources to respond to your child’s social-emotional needs.
We appreciate all that you have been doing to support your child/children through these past few months, and we are incredibly thankful to work collaboratively with such an amazing group of parents and families!
Sincerely,
Heather Ghereben

Exciting PTA News!! Tribe is here!
The Proctor PTA is excited to present Proctor's very own social media platform, Tribe. Tribe is a secure and private social media site available to Proctor families both in CVVPE and Hybrid models. Through the use of Tribe parents can connect with other parents both in their children's class rooms and grade levels. There are also groups for various languages spoken at the school, Adventure Time families and more! While we can't be physically together yet, we hope that Tribe will give us another way to exchange information, keep in touch with families we maybe haven't seen for a while and keep stay informed about upcoming events.
If you would like to join or are looking for additional information about Tribe, please email leadroomrep@proctorpta.net today!

Castro Valley Community Outreach Announcement
Greetings from Castro Valley Outreach -
It’s that time of year again for our holiday season outreach efforts! The CVO Board has created a new Covid-style program for the food drive as well as the Adopt-a-
Family program for our community families in need. As we know, there is a huge need now more than ever before and we are here to help! It is extremely important to us that we pivot like the world is, to ensure we provide something special for our families in need during the holiday season. We are reinventing and adapting to our current challenges and are planning on moving forward with our community outreach. We normally support 150 Castro Valley families and over 250 children!
If you or someone you know needs assistance, please fill out the following application. DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION IS OCTOBER 31st- NO EXCEPTIONS.
Here are the links, please only fill out one application:
*English: https://forms.gle/1SLAHZgS2qfMTh1W6
*Chinese: https://forms.gle/rBtJ8Thd7gbVWHB78
*Spanish: https://forms.gle/3EwDmfQvSJccnyg17
Once we receive your application for assistance, a member of the Castro Valley Outreach board will contact you.
November - Thanksgiving Food Drive
With so many churches and organizations providing canned goods and miscellaneous other items to families on a weekly basis, CVO has developed a new plan for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. We will provide a turkey and a pie to each family who qualifies and possibly other items depending on our fundraising efforts.
December - Holiday Support Program
We are hoping to also provide support for holiday gifts in lieu of the Adopt-a-family program that we normally have done in years’ past. However, we will not know the extent of that portion of the project until we see how well our fundraising efforts do.
CVO Fundraising OCTOBER 2020
Since we cannot do our normal food drive/adopt-a-family with all our community schools, we are creating a fundraising campaign for the month of October, starting Oct 1 - 31st and we hope to raise tons of money for our project!
During this time, we will ask families, school parent organizations, community members and past donors to donate via a CVO paypal option, our GO FUND ME account, or by simply sending a check to CV Outreach. The monies raised will go toward purchasing the turkeys, pies, and food gift cards supporting our families.
Here’s how YOU CAN HELP:
