WATCH D.O.G.S.
What is a Watch D.O.G.S?
The U.S Department of Education has identified the WATCH D.O.G.S Program as an effective way to increase male involvement in our nation’s schools.
Each school year thousands of men volunteer to work at least one day in their child’s school through the WATCH D.O.G.S Program. These men work alongside the educators to help as traffic controllers, classroom tutors, playground coaches, and much more. Every school year, these men have a positive impact on the lives of children.
Who can be a Watch D.O.G?
A father, grandfather, or father figure!
Program Benefits:
Students gain a positive male role model. Some students do not have a father-like figure present in their home. With the number of male teachers steadily declining, more positive male role models are needed in the school setting.
Schools gain an extra set of eyes and ears. Their presence can increase a sense of security at the school for students and staff and it helps create an environment conducive to learning.
Fathers and father figures can spend meaningful time with their students in the school setting and gain awareness of the positive impact they can have on their student’s life.
When WATCH DOGS invest time at school, they can learn how to better partner with the school to meet goals of students.
Be on the lookout for our online sign up coming soon!

Pride Singers!
Dear Parents of Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade Students,
The Norris Pride Singers is an opportunity available for your son or daughter. Students experience performing with a large group in unison and harmony, performing music of varied styles.
Rehearsals will be held in the vocal music room every Wednesday morning (starting 8/17) from 7:30 to 8:20 AM. Students will meet outside the main entrance on the South side of the building. Students will be let inside to begin rehearsal promptly at 7:30. Please drop off your student no earlier than 7:20. If you should arrive outside of those times, they should enter the main front door; however prompt and regular attendance is extremely important, so hopefully that will be a rare occurrence. If a student must miss due to illness or emergency, please let me know via email.
The first two rehearsals are open to all students without making a commitment to join Pride Singers. By the third week, students who plan to be in Pride Singers should commit to rehearsals for the whole semester, through our winter concert. Our winter concert will be sometime in December (more information coming).
Please be aware that Pride Singers are a standard of excellence at Norris. Students who don’t represent ROAR at the highest level may be subject to removal from Chorus. To help reinforce the leadership our singers have, please go over this note with your student, and have them sign at the bottom before you sign it.
Please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions. My goal for your child is to have a rewarding and memorable experience as part of a large ensemble.
