March 2018

School Library Month is around the corner, and we're collecting quick-hit stories to share in a press release. Student quotes, parent feedback, cool lesson ideas, ways you integrate technology ... email Meredith Moore at with a few sentences.

Save The Date: May 5

We are working on plans for an Unconference on the morning of Saturday, May 5. More details to come soon! If you are interested in volunteering that day, email Alyssa Taft at

Read for RICBA

The RI Children's Book Award committee has two openings for SLRI reps: one for a one-year commitment, and one for three years. Sitting on the committee helps you keep up with the latest middle-grade literature and can serve as your PGG. More information and an application form will be coming out from Danielle Margarida at OLIS. In the meantime, if you have specific questions, you can contact Danielle at

Reminder: EveryLibrary Petition for EG

As you may know, East Greenwich currently has no high school librarian. EveryLibrary has created a petition on the district's behalf to ask community leaders to reinstate the position.

It only takes a few minutes to sign the petition and lend your support to the cause.

Upcoming Events

Everyone is invited to COLA's annual meeting on Tuesday, April 10, from 5:00 - 7:00 at the State House. Jim Neal, president of the American Library Association, will be speaking.

And remember that all SLRI Members are invited to attend our monthly meetings. Feel free to join us on Thursday, April 12. It takes place from 4:15 - 6:00 p.m. at New England Tech in East Greenwich (Room S203).
