Principal's Office
Here is our Roadrunner Weekly for the week of September 23rd through September 27th.
I wanted to begin today with some exciting firsts that took place this week! As you can see from the pictures above, our 3rd graders took the first of our AVID college field trips on Friday to William Jessup University. Our 2nd (Sierra College); 4th (Sac State); and 5th (UC Davis) grade classes will be making their college visits later this year.
Also, our Roadrunner Store opened on Friday as well. This was the first time our kids were able to cash in the BEEP cards they have been earning with their positive behavior since the beginning of the school year! Along with some items that can be seen in the photos below, kids can also earn field trips and other great experiences hosted by some of our staff. We are so proud of how well our Roadrunners have begun the year! Thank you for all of your support thus far, and we kindly ask you to help us keep the momentum going!
Our PTC kicked off its cookie dough fundraiser last week and it wraps up this Friday. Fundraisers like this help our PTC support such things as the purchasing of our new play structure; campus beautification efforts like the upcoming Bayside Serve Day in which we will be installing a new decomposed granite path, laying fresh bark, and building benches in front of school; and helping supply our new Roadrunner Store to reward our kids for their positive choices and actions. Your participation in these fundraisers, no matter how small or large, goes a long way!
This Friday, September 27th, we will be hosting our "Back to School Bash!" This year, our event will take place during the school day which will allow all students present to participate. It will be a really fun time for our kids, and we are asking for your help in donating a few items that we can give away to our kids as raffle prizes. More information can be found below.
i-Ready is an important skill builder that our kids can access at school and at home. Our teachers try to build in time during the school day for some practice, but we also encourage your child to continue using it at home also as the program recommends a minimum of 45 minutes per subject, per week to help build math and ELA skills.
Lastly, please check out our staff websites to keep current on homework and class events.
Have a great week!

"Back to School Bash" - Friday, September 27th
The “Back to School Bash” Committee has been working hard to plan an event full of fun activities that include water balloons, face painting, chalk art, music, dancing, and much, much more! Students in each grade level will get the opportunity to win raffle prizes during the event. Beginning on Monday, 9/16, the teachers will be handing out raffle tickets to the students in their classrooms. Students can earn two tickets per day, one for being present in school and the other at the teacher’s discretion. All students have an opportunity to collect a total of 18 tickets. On the day of the “Back to School Bash,” the students will get to view all of the donated raffle items at their grade level table and add their tickets to the items that they really want to win.
This is where you come in! We are kindly asking for First Street School families to donate items for the raffles. Our goal is to collect at least 20 items for each grade level. We are looking for donations that the kids will LOVE like art supplies, craft kits, Pokemon, sports equipment, puzzles, small toys, Legos, games, books, gift cards, etc. One donation is all it takes to help us meet this goal! If you would like to donate an item (or more), please bring it to the office or give it to your child’s teacher. All donations are due on or before Friday, 9/20. Thank you so much for all of your love and support. We couldn’t do this without you!
