Mrs. Stevenson's Message
Dear South Creek Families,
We had a great Veteran’s Day Program honoring 41 Veterans that attended the program. I received several notes, emails, and phone calls from Veterans, families, and community members thanking our staff and students for planning the program.
I am so grateful everyday serving as the principal at South Creek Elementary. We truly have wonderful students, staff, and parents. As we enter into the Holiday season, I know my perspective changes every year as I get older. I believe it is important to model the “little gestures of kindness.”
“I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid's runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are---- particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (I’m not a big one for paying compliments…”), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain.”- Jonathan Carroll
I encourage you to like South Creek’s Facebook page and join South Creek’s PTO. We try to post day to day events on the Facebook page. I look forward to seeing you at Breakfast with Santa, the 3rd- 4th grade Holiday program, Polar Express, Sounds of the Season, and the Winter party. Happy Holidays!
South Creek is a school of hope, guided by knowledge, inspired by love.
Toni Stevenson, Principal

Winter Break by Reece Koomler
It’s almost Winter break! Over Winter Break you get to do lots of fun stuff, like Christmas, and spending time with your family. Also when it snows you can go get all your friends and have a snowball fight, or even build a snow fort so you won’t get demolished. With your family, you can build the best snowman in the world. Or you can just sit back and relax and enjoy the fire, and eat Santa’s cookies.

Hi again! I’m back with another recipe, but this time it’s for dessert. But, don’t worry about a dinner recipe because I’m going to be doing it next month. My dessert is a MOLASSES COOKIE! One of my dad's favorite holiday cookies.

2 cups of sugar
½ cup of molasses
2 eggs
4 cups of flour
4 t. of baking soda
1 t. of ground cloves
1 t. of ginger
2 t. of cinnamon
½ t. of salt
Mix well. Chill 1 hour. Roll into small balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 375*.

Voting in Mrs. Mitchell's Class by Reece Koomler
Last week before the election Mrs. Mitchell’s class read Duck For President, and after they read the story they set up a ballot box to vote for either Duck, or Farmer Brown. She told her kids to get in al line and don’t tell anyone your vote. They wrote on a post it note if they either wanted Duck or Farmer Brown to be President. They got in a line and put their vote in the ballot box.
