MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS

“From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace!”
John 1:16
Happy Friday, everyone! We now have week two under our belts, and I’m so proud of all the hard work everyone has done. I was just saying to Coach Fortin that I really am missing the fact that we don’t have football tonight. Nevertheless, I’m overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude that so far we’re still able to stay open. It really has been good for the soul to see students in the halls, in class, and in the chapel again!
As we prepared to begin this year, the Bible verse above kept coming to mind in prayer for me. That verse is the conclusion of the famous Prologue to John’s Gospel. It’s a beautiful passage which reflects on the great mystery of the Incarnation. St. John is simply in awe of the fact that in Jesus, he saw the very face of God, and that this God loves him so much that he would die for him. Almost at a loss for words, he concludes with deep gratitude, “From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace!”
The word grace refers to God’s gift of Himself for our salvation. Christian prayer always begins with a spirit of gratitude, recognizing that, long before we have ever loved God, He has loved us first.
I want to encourage every one of us to never forget how good God has been to us. Are times tough? You betcha. But Jesus never promised the false hope of an easy life for His disciples. He said it clearly, “If anyone wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me,” (Luke 9:23). And boy do we have a cross to bear right now. That’s why we need to constantly remind ourselves: “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him,” (Romans 8:28). That’s why we need to know of God’s grace in our bones. That’s why, continuing that tradition started by Fr. Doyle many years ago, I’ve decided to make the spiritual theme for this year: grace upon grace!
God loves us, redeems us, and promises us eternal life with Him: grace upon grace!
God has brought together this Marian Central Catholic High School community in person to start off this year: grace upon grace!
From His fullness we have all received: grace upon grace!
God bless,
Fr. 20

Driver Education
Top Driver has shared the following option with Marian Central students for fall, 2020.
In a “normal” year Top Driver would once again be offering an After-School Driver Education Class on campus at Marian Central Catholic. Due to the pandemic, we have developed a Secretary of State-approved On Demand WEBCAST course that we have been using since April – students are able to login to their class whenever they wish and can take their time completing the course. The same 30-hour curriculum is used as in our traditional “in person” class and the individual modules are taught by our veteran instructors. This self-paced class provides the opportunity for the students to learn at their own speed and they can go back and review topics and modules when needed.
To enroll in the WEBCAST program simply visit our website at www.topdriver.com and enter your home’s location - the list of the closest Top Driver education centers will appear. Again, this is a self-paced class with no set scheduled dates or times. Your teen can enroll and start the class at any time. The in-vehicle lessons continue to be scheduled with pickup/dropoff at all of our 30+ convenient education centers.
To enroll or for further information please call Customer Service at 800-374-8373 or visit our website at www.topdriver.com.
Back to School Night - Virtual Style
Please note - Tuesday, September 8th will remain a full day of classes.
College Corner
Mark your calendars for Financial Aid Information Night. This program is taking place on Tuesday, September 22nd at 6:30 PM. At this point, this program will be virtual, but stay tuned in case we’re able to switch it over to an in-person event. This event is geared more toward parents than students, but students are certainly welcome to attend.
Our presenter will be Susan Teerink, the Director of Student Financial Services at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Susan does a fantastic job explaining how financial aid applications calculate a family’s financial need and answers many questions about need-based financial aid for college.
Please contact Mr. Stamatakos with any questions about Financial Aid Information Night!
