The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs
The Family Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (Family Center) is the statewide, parent-directed center within Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) and the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS). The mission of the Family Center is to support and connect Michigan families of children and youth with special health care needs, provide family-centered leadership throughout Michigan’s health care settings, and partner in the decision making process within the systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs.
The Family Center is excited to offer a series of free Virtual Parent Connect Calls monthly. Our first call for 2022 is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST. Participants will learn about the Home and Community Based Services Final Rule through HCBS Trainers sharing their experiences. The HCBS Trainers will discuss the importance of the HCBS Rule and its impact on services and supports for individuals with disabilities. Information will be presented on the individual rights the HCBS Rule provides to live in the community, have freedom, a person-centered plan, and respect and privacy.
