Discovery Education
Discovery Education is now fully integrated into Canvas. Students/teachers will not need to use a separate login for each service—just log into Canvas and all should work!
For more info, see below.
Canvas & Discovery Education: Single Sign On
Over the weekend, Canvas and Discovery Education accounts will merge giving students and teachers the single sign on feature that allows them to access Discovery Education content within Canvas. Users will notice the Discovery Education tab at the bottom left of their course navigation where they can access their online DE Techbooks and digital content. Teachers will be able to access and include DE content within course modules, content pages, discussions, and assignments through external tool options. Should teachers wish to access their Discovery Education content directly through the website, their new usernames and passwords will be as follows:
Teacher Username: Email Address
Teacher Password: DOB
Included below is a link that previews this access. We look forward to supporting teachers and students with this new integration.

Congratualtions to April Smith: Ebinport's Employee of Excellence for this Quarter!
4th Tuesday Collaboration Details
The following was sent to our collaborative schools:
5th Grade: Teachers will take a look at 4th quarter math standards. How do we teach it all while preparing for standardized testing. This session will be led by Mr. Jerrell. Teachers will meet at Ebinport in room A 105. Please bring a charged laptop.
4th Grade: Ebinport 4th grade teachers will lead a discussion regarding teaching text dependent analysis. Please bring any TDA passages that you currently use or ideas you are using to teach this. It will be located in room C-113.
3rd Grade: This session will focus on creating a 4th quarter common assessment for reading. This session will explore in detail standards RL 7.1 and RL 7.2. We will focus on these standards in terms of both meaning and rigor and create a common assessment. Please bring materials you have for these standards. We will be in room A-104.
2nd Grade: We will be meeting here at Ebinport for the next Collaboration Tuesday. We will meet in Kristi McGuirt's room, E 127. We would like to discuss how to help struggling students with 2 ATO 2 (add and subtract fluently to 20). If you could let your second grade teams know so they can start thinking of ideas to share with all of us. I will be talking about math workshop and sharing some math station games. We feel this is an area many of students struggle in and we are curious to see what you all do at your school to move these students forward.
1st Grade: A Place for Wonder: Join Marco Vaughan and Sherry Moore as they lead a discussion around the Research Workshop. Bring a charged laptop and an open mind as we “wonder” together. We will meet in room D-119.
Kindergarten: “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About” Session 2
Hana Sands & Lisa Baker
K5 teachers
In Session 1, we created a working definition of oral language. We discussed and shared opportunities that already exist in our day, that work toward developing student’s oral language. Now, let’s talk further about things we have tried since then, and plan purposefully for the remainder of this year and next! We will meet in room D-114.
PBIS Update
Please remember our celebration scheduled for this Tuesday, Feb. 28 in the cafeteria. Grades K-2 will report at 8:00 a.m. and grades 3-5 at 9:00 a.m. You will have some laughs and see some great skits and role playing done by our wonderful staff. Our areas of focus for the remainder of the year will be morning talks, dismissal, and teacher accountability. Please remember each week to vote for a class of the week and teacher of the week. Thank you for your assistance.
A Great Read
In our staff meeting last week, one topic that came up was how to deal with defiant students and to deescalate the situation. I found this article, and was challenged by it. I ask you to read this article and see if you are doing these processes and procedures with defiant children. I know I am not doing them all; a real gut check.
Construction Update
-Construction on the front office is ahead of schedule! Assuming that all inspections go well, we should move in well before the end of the year. Once I have a final date I will send this out to you all.
-Now for the bad news....we will not have the mobiles next year. It is not cost effective to renew the lease on the mobile units. Given that construction on the 3rd grade hallway will be completed this summer, we will be losing a classroom (Lunny and Vandermolen's rooms will become one large classroom and a resource room) and adding a class at 5th grade. So, as you can imagine, space will be VERY tight in our building next year. I offered up my new office as a classroom, but was told this is not an option :) Either way, those who are effected by changes due to construction will meet with me individually so we can discuss a plan prior to this information being released to staff. Rest assured, every effort is being made to work in the best interests of students, we will be uncomfortable for a year, but we are a united Ebinport and we will not lose our focus.
