Updates from the Elementary Office 8.17.21
Hello North Crawford Families,
It is with my great enthusiasm that I welcome everyone to the 2021 -2022 school year! All of us here at North Crawford Elementary are looking forward to a great year of learning, laughing, and growing together. As I enter my 4th year as Elementary Principal at North Crawford, I am still amazed at the wonderful families, students, and staff that I have the pleasure to work alongside. North Crawford is truly a special place to learn and grow. We are proud of our beautiful school and the kind, compassionate, and inquisitive students who attend. I look forward to introducing our new staff and sharing the many talents they bring to our school community.
Throughout the year, I will be highlighting the ways in which our staff will demonstrate their commitment to our district's mission tagline - Every Student, Every Day. We can't wait to dive into our new literacy curriculum, CKLA. The program is designed around providing students with opportunities to grow their background knowledge through engaging units of study and high quality phonics based instruction. Be on the lookout for parent letters that will go home with your child sharing all of the exciting things we will be learning about. We have also increased staffing to be able to better support reteaching and extension activities within the areas of math and reading.
Partnering with families continues to be critical to successful outcomes for our students. We look forward to showing you the many ways we will be going the distance for every student, every day. I encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher or myself if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year.
Best Regards,
Amanda Killeen

Q&A
What time does School Start:
Classes start at 8:05. Please do not drop off your child prior to 7:50. The building is not open for students to come to their classrooms before that time.
Can I walk my child down to their classroom?
On the first day of school, 4k and 5k families may walk their child down to their classroom by entering through the playground doors. We encourage masking of adults walking their child into the building. Otherwise, please say your goodbyes outside of the building.
Do I need to put money on my child's lunch account?
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. However, milk break is not included in the federal program. Families who qualify and have an updated Free and Reduced lunch application turned in, will not need to pay for milk. Those who do not qualify will need to have a balance in their account if they wish to have daily milk break.
When is pickup?
Students will start walking out of the building at 3:30. If you are picking up your child, you may either use the pickup lane or park your vehicle and meet your child in the grassy area in front of the elementary. We will continue to have families wait outdoors this school year. Children are not permitted to cross the bus/pickup lane to meet you in the parking lot without an adult.
Have more questions that I haven't answered. Reach out! Communication in regards to any updated Covid protocols will be sent out after the board meeting on Wednesday.
