Tips to Start off the new School Year
Organize, Organize, Organize...
.
.
.
As a school counselor I am here to help students with many different needs. After all, all students are different. One of the most asked questions from parents is "How do I get my kid to succeed in school?" Typically I tell them "MOTIVATION!!"
But where does motivation come from?
Motivation can come in many forms. I always start with organization. When there is less chaos, the child becomes less stressed. Organization can get a student on track if they can stick to a plan, because after all; organization provides structure and that is something that we all need!
Tips
Have your child start the year off with a planner (make sure they pick it out).
Have a binder or folder labeled for each class. This helps to keep students organized with all of their assignments.
Check PowerSchool regularly.

Hello and welcome back!!
I am happy to help!
Some safety advice:
*Hand washing should occur every 2-3 hours.
*Hand sanitation should be used if hand washing with soap and water is not readily available.
*Mask should be worn when out and about and when with people who are not immediate family.
*Remember to stay socially distanced at 6 feet or more apart.
Monthly Mindfulness Tip:
Box breathing-this can be done when upset-angry or anxious. It can also be done as a calming effect after a long day as well as a great start to the day.
Breath in for 4 seconds, hold breath in for 4 seconds, breath out slowly for 4 seconds, hold with breath out of lungs for 4 seconds. Repeat at least 4 times, more if needed.
