Advanced Placement
Taking the Advanced Placement exam is an important part of all AP courses. Centennial High School expects that all students take AP exams for the AP classes they take. Students who do not complete the registration process will be registered and a fine for the testing amount will be added to the fee management system in Skyward. Participating in AP Exams will give the student valuable college level testing experience. In addition to the academic experience, scoring well on an AP exam could earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.
AP Exam registration and payment will be open Monday, February 13, 2017 - Thursday, February 16, 2017.
AP exams are $93 per exam. The district is assisting to lower the cost to $63 per exam for students. CHS will pay for additional exams after the first three for students enrolled in courses for the 2016-2017 school year. If the student has qualified for free/reduced lunch program, the exam price will be $17 per exam.
*AP Capstone fees are $141 with the district assistance lowering the cost to $108. AP Capstone fees for students on free/reduced lunch will be $62.
SAT/ACT
SAT/ACT-- As a general rule, Juniors should take the SAT & ACT in the spring of their Junior year. Students should then retake one or both of the exams before applications are due in the fall/early spring of Senior year.
If you are on Free/Reduced lunch, contact Mrs. Pair to get a waiver to take the SAT and ACT for free. You will also get four College Application Fee Waivers!

AVID Information
AVID applications for the 2017-2018 school year are now available for Freshman and Sophomores! During the AVID Elective class, students learn how to take notes, test-taking strategies, time management and proper study skills. Students explore college and career options while working with WICOR strategies (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading). All AVID students maintain the AVID binder, which holds all of their materials from all of their classes. Field trips to colleges start in the freshman year and continue throughout the program. In the junior year, students prepare for the SAT and ACT in the classroom and begin filling out college applications. The senior year helps students apply for college and scholarships as well as introduces them to college like assignments and activities.
The application is attached or you can pick up an AVID Application in the College and Career Center today.
Please contact Mrs. Pair at spair@bisdmail.net or Ms. Riley at brittany.riley@bisdmail.net if you have any questions.
