October 11, 2023
Dear NSD Families and Staff,
Congratulations to Ledge Street and New Searles Elementary Schools for successful dedicated walk-to-school days these last few weeks. Fall is now in full swing and is a great time for students to walk together to school. We hope the dedicated days spark a pattern of walking and biking to school together while the mild weather makes it easier.
The first of five early dismissal days is scheduled this month on Wednesday, October 18. Please remember on early release days students are dismissed two hours early to allow teachers and staff to take advantage of workshops and meetings. I encourage our families to make special arrangements for student pickup and care, as needed. As you may recall, early release days were suspended last year but have been reinstated this year to allow dedicated time for our teaching staff. Click here for a copy of the 2023-2024 school district calendar, which identifies all five early release days.
Enjoy fall!
Sincerely,
Mario Andrade, Ed.D.

All juniors take the PSAT and are considered for College Board competitions for prestigious Merit scholarships. As you know, the PSAT is a standardized test that measures critical reading and language skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills. Each year 1.5 million students nationwide meet Merit Scholar entry requirements, from which 50,000 are recognized for their academic promise. The College Board will announce National Merit Scholarship finalists in February 2024. Again, congratulations to our scholars and good luck with advancing in the scholarship program!

- Also, the state of New Hampshire is creating a plan to ensure all residents have access to high quality internet and, more importantly, to devices and training needed to access the internet successfully. The first step in developing this plan is to evaluate needs in our local community. Please click here to take 10-15 minutes to answer survey questions and to share digital access experiences.
