Primary 'Good News' letter
News and events taking place from 9th April - 23rd April
Message from Miss Kerry
Dear Parents
Welcome back to term 3 in the Primary School at Ajman Academy. We have enjoyed a busy and productive week.
In FS2 KMA this week I enjoyed playing with two children in the breakout space with model submarines which they had designed out of junk materials and were testing out as part of their unit of inquiry on Fur Feathers and Fins. It is a pleasure to witness such creativity and innovation in our youngest children.
PY 6 students are well on their way towards completing their independent inquiry work towards their PYP exhibition which takes place on Thursday 27th April. Next week their full focus will be on preparation for the exhibition.
See Saw Ipad App
In the Primary School from PY 1 upwards, students and teachers use the See Saw app on the Ipad to record evidence and track student learning. Ask your child to show you the App if they haven’t done so already. We are in the process of adding evidence for each unit of inquiry and tracking the ‘I can’ learning objectives.
For Students
Seesaw empowers students to independently document their learning and provides an audience for their work—their peers, parents, or the world.
For Families
Seesaw gives families an immediate and personalized window into your child’s school day, helping to answer: "What did you do at school today?"
Update : End of the Day Pick Up Arrangements
With the warmer weather arriving, we have your child’s well being and safety at heart.
We kindly request that you remember to send your child to school wearing their AJAC hat. We have a ‘No Hat, No Play’ policy. Please ensure your child always comes to school with a bottle of water. Water coolers are readily available and free for students to refill bottles during the day.
AJAC School caps are available to purchase from our uniform shop and please make sure to label them with your child's name and year group so that they are easily returned should they be mislaid.
In the early morning and at snack break children will still have the opportunity to make the most of the cooler temperatures and ‘run’ off their energy. We will bring children indoors at lunch break should the temperature rise too high.
From Sunday 16th April, the end of the day arrangements for picking up PY4 to PY6 will change next week. Students will not be dismissed from the playground.
All students from FS1 to PY6 will remain in their classrooms and should be collected directly from there by an adult or older sibling.
Inspire to Teach with Incyte Education
Malcolm Greenhalgh and Caroline McKee from Incyte Education will return to Ajman Academy next week. They will be following up with our outstanding Leaders of Learning who embarked on the Inspire to Teach programme in November.
Over the course of terms 1 and 2, teachers following the programme have kept a journal and shared outstanding practise by observing each other during lessons.
There are 3 specific focus areas for the visit which includes monitoring outstanding teaching and learning with observations and feedback, independent learning opportunities for students and progress. Malcolm Greenhalgh’s expertise is highly valued by our team and we are very much looking forward to the visit.

Earth Day
On Thursday 20th April we will be celebrating ‘Earth Day’ with a focus on what we can do to preserve the world in which we live for future generations without damaging our Earth.
Please could all children come to school wearing GREEN on that day. A green T shirt or top is fine.
RAK Animal Welfare Centre
PY 6 took action for their Exhibition focus of animal welfare and have invited Ras Al Khaimah Animal Welfare Centre to visit school next week and talk to the students. This also supports the FS2 unit of Inquiry of Feathers Fur and Fins.
The PY6 boys will present their work to other students and there will be an opportunity for children to handle puppies, cats and rabbits in the animal petting area. A letter will be sent home soon and we would appreciate if you could let us know of any child who may not handle animals due to allergies.
