Principal's Post...
I saw the quote above on Facebook this weekend, and when I read the words I thought of you. You love our kids. It's why you're at Liberty Bell. Your love for our students is what makes our school GREAT!
There are so many students walking in our hallways and sitting in our classrooms who desperately need our love. I have to remind myself that many times, the students who need our love the most are the ones who seem to reject us the most.
The relationships that we build with our kids matter.
So often, it takes time to see a hint of progress, but relentless love and hope bear fruit. Loving our students is the most important thing we do for them.
Teaching is the amount of support necessary for learning to occur. What matters most is our support. Whether we are providing that support in the classroom to increase a child's academic performance, or whether it is in helping students acquire the appropriate social behaviors that they need, our expectations must remain high. Our hope must remain steadfast.
Loving someone means hoping in someone. Many of our students have lost hope. Loving our students means continually hoping and believing in them. They look to us for that hope and belief....and like the quote above reminds us, some of our students may be unresponsive, but loving them today may help them find the hope and belief in themselves so that they may be able to learn tomorrow.
I think the video below is an OUTSTANDING picture of what love, high expectations and support look like! Please take a minute to watch it. You will be glad you did!
