Elsie Rogers Express
November 4, 2022
Annually during fall elementary parent/teacher conferences and middle school student-led conferences, we ask parents via electronic surveys for feedback on how P-H-M is doing in the areas of safety, academics, building leadership and school communications. We believe it is relevant to share the results with all of our P-H-M families. As part of Penn High School's commitment to continuous improvement, Penn engages in a thorough, independent evaluation. Penn students & staff have already been surveyed. Parents will be given the opportunity for feedback before Thanksgiving break. The results will be shared back with the greater community when they are completed.
Dear P-H-M Elementary Student and Family,
Another winter is just around the corner and again we must think about the possibility of bad weather, school closings, and lost instructional time.
As part of the new Indiana law HB-1093, schools are limited to three days of eLearning. Penn-Harris-MadisonSchool Corporation will use, if warranted, three weather related days as needed throughout the year. If additional makeup days are required, they will be added to the end of the school year calendar beginning on June 2. Principals will communicate with parents eLearning expectations and possible calendar adjustments throughout the year.
eLearning is designed to be delivered over the internet through a link the school or teacher provides. You will receive a form from your child’s classroom teacher which will include student login information for various websites to be used for eLearning. Teachers will be available by email during regularly scheduled school hours on days when school is closed and eLearning takes place.
In the event that your child has an IEP and receives direct service minutes during the school day, the Exceptional Education teacher will contact parents to make alternative arrangements if necessary.
Elementary Technology Instructions will be sent home next week. This sheet will
provide the instructions that you and your child will need to access the eLearning lessons. Along with this communication, if your family requested a chromebook, there will also be information on how to pick up your device.
Please contact your child’s teacher or principal with questions you may have.

Thank you for partnering with P-H-M teachers and schools. Your support is crucial to your student's success, and it is greatly appreciated.

Free Meals and Textbook Assistance
Your family may be eligible for assistance paying for cafeteria meals and school fees.
Households that meet the financial guidelines of the National School Lunch Program are eligible for free or reduced meal prices, as well as a discount applied to textbook rental fees. To receive this support parents must apply annually and provide information that serves to verify household income. The application is easy to fill out (choose online or paper format) and it includes a place to indicate that you also want to apply for textbook assistance. Please make sure to submit only one form (application) per household, even if the children are in different schools.
(Applications for the 2022-23 school year will be accepted beginning July 1st, 2022)
We encourage ALL Elsie Rogers parents to apply online at this website: www.schoolcafe.com.
Applying online is faster and easier than using printed forms, and your benefits will start sooner!
