Happy Friday Panda Families!
As we are nearing Spring Break (April 5th- 9th, 2021), we will be celebrating our College and Career Week at Brookview. During College and Career Week our students will take a walking tour of various colleges and learn about various careers. April 2nd will be our actual Career Day where virtual presenters will share about their Career Path. Our 4th and 5th grade students will also participate in a Virtual College Panel with the University of Georgia. All 4th and 5th grade students should be working on their portfolio (tri-fold board project) that they have started at school. The portfolios are due April 1st to the school counselor, Mrs. Lief. Her email address is lief@fultonschools.org.
Additionally, Please be reminded that after Spring Break, Monday, April 12th- Wednesday, April 14th, are Remote Learning Days per the District as a result of staff vaccinations. Students do not report to Brookview.
Below is the communication that was sent out to parents directly from the District two weeks ago. Please read it in its entirety.
Remote Learning Days
Dear Parents and Community Members,
As part of our efforts to provide a safe school environment for our students and community at large, we have been advocating for our personnel to be included in the eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine. Fortunately, Fulton County Schools (FCS) has continued to partner with the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) to support COVID-19 vaccination of district personnel, including two “Super Saturday” clinics held in January at Mercedes Benz Stadium, for those meeting the criteria in Phase 1A+.
You may have noted, as of March 8, all K-12 employees will now be eligible and cleared to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. FCS is again partnering with FCBOH to offer vaccinations to all employees who choose to have the vaccine. “Project Vaccinate 2021” will happen over the course of two weeks. The first dose will be offered to employees March 22-27. The second dose will be offered April 12-14.
During the span of these two weeks, school-based personnel will rotate through the vaccination days by level/zone. For the district to efficiently cycle all employees through the vaccination process, schools (per level) will adhere to the following remote learning/work schedule with school administration for teaching staff.
Given the complexities of coordinating an event of this scale and the time it will take to administer vaccines to so many employees, we anticipate our instructional delivery model will be impacted. All schools in the district will then switch to remote learning for part of these vaccine weeks. FCS will remain in remote the week after spring break to allow the vaccines to be given and to guard against a post spring break surge. The full schedule can be found below.
We understand switching to remote learning for certain days requires planning, and we are providing these dates as early as possible so families can plan accordingly. Principals will follow up directly with more guidance for each school’s plans and how these will impact your student’s instruction.

Students report back to school face to face on April 15-16th.
Thank you for helping to keep our colleagues, your students, and our workplace safe, and for your commitment and partnership with Fulton County Schools.

Georgia Milestones Testing
If your Panda is a 3rd -5th grade student, you must complete the survey regarding the Georgia Milestones Assessment. You have the opportunity to “opt out” or “opt in” to your child’s participation in the Georgia Milestones Assessments. Please see the information below.
The State of Georgia is moving forward with administering the Georgia Milestones to all students in grades 3-8. Please note the Georgia Milestones Assessment will NOT count towards promotion and retention for our 3-8 students. Please click the link below and complete this survey to help us prepare for spring testing. Parents, you will need your child’s student ID number (ex. 20001) when completing the survey. We need to know if your child will participate in the Georgia Milestones or if you are opting out of testing. We are also collecting information on student devices.
The survey is open NOW until April 2nd. Our goal is for ALL FCS students to respond to the survey, including those learning face-to-face and those learning remotely.
Parents of our remote learning students ONLY, please be aware of the following if you elect to take the Georgia Milestones:
- Per FCS and State Guidelines, students MUST come to Brookview for testing. Testing is face to face ONLY.
- Students will NOT remain at school all day. Parents MUST pick up students immediately after testing at 11:00 am.
- Bus transportation will be provided for students to test in the am, however, parents MUST pick up students immediately after testing at 11:00am.
- Snacks will be provided during testing.
- To ensure safety, students may NOT test with their homeroom teacher depending on the number of students in the classroom.
- If parents do NOT complete the survey, remote learning students will default to taking the Georgia Milestones.
Please see below for important information regarding Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration, as well as important Title I Updates.
As always, thank you for supporting Brookview. Please stay safe and stay connected!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Your Principal and Partner,
Jovita G. Wallace

Brookview Parent & Family Engagement Plan and School-Family Compacts
Greetings Parents and Families,
Attached below, you will find our school wide Parental and Family Engagement Policy, which has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in the Title I, Part A programs. This policy was adopted by Brookview Elementary School on October 2, 2020 and will be in effect for the period of 2020-2021 school year. Brookview Elementary will distribute this policy to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before October 15, 2020 and will be placed on the school website.
Also attached you will find Brookview's School-Family Compact, which was jointly developed by our teachers and parents. The compact outlines the shared responsibilities of parents, students, teachers, and administrators for student academic achievement. The compact also outlines how the school and parents will develop a partnership for student success. School-Family compacts will be placed on the school website at the beginning of the year.
Please review this information with your student(s).
