Wylie East High School Library
2019-2020
It started out so well...
We started off the year with an increase in the number of checkouts with English teachers in all four grade levels bringing their classes in to check out books. Each grade level asked students to read for at least 10 minutes each day in class and required various assignments for evaluation.
Starting off the year this way encouraged choice, and the students continued to check out on their own and with their classes throughout the school year. If school would have ended as expected, this year was set to be the highest ciculation numbers to date.
The silver lining is that because of the quaranatine our ebook and audiobooks showed a dramatic increase.

Professional Development and PLTs
- I attended all four levels of English PLTs each week, and daily during online learning.
- The district librarians meet once a month to discuss policies and procedures and the latest technologies and research tools.
- This year we were able to get together for two half days of curriculum planning. This allowed us to construct a scope and sequence tht aligns with the research TEKS of the English department and will enable us to provide lessons and strategies to ensure these skills are mastered.
Thank you principals for allowing us this time away from our campuses to develop these lessons.
