January 2017 Newsletter

College Hills Elem. PTO

A Message from Mr. Hatfield

Dear College Hills Parents & Guardians,

I hope this letter find everyone well relaxed from the holiday season! I know that our Teachers and Staff have had a joyful break and are glad to be back as well. The first day back is always an exciting morning to see all the happy smiling faces come through the front doors. Listening to student stories from the extra weather day was exciting to hear from the student points of views they have shared with us as well. There are many activities coming up so make sure to check out our calendar.

Some big upcoming events to put on your calendar include our AVID open house for 3rd grade on January 23rd at 8am, AVID open house for 4th grade on January 24th at 2pm, Reading night on February 8th, Spring Book Fair starting February 26th and Paw Print Festival March 24th 11am-3pm.

Also, a reminder from nurse Reeda that the Flu is impacting a larger amount of people across the state this season. If your child is displaying signs of the flu please contact your child's physician. If we see signs at school we will send the students to nurse Reeda for evaluation and a possible call home. We do clean all table and desk daily to help prevent the spread of germs.

Have any photos for our yearbook?

One day photos on your phone could be priceless to another family. Let's face it, we can't wait to see them already! If you have photos from school events, please email them to collegehillspto@gmail.com and include the teacher, grade etc. We'll add them to end of year presentations and the yearbook. The deadline to do this is usually early March. Thanks!

There are just a few ways to help at this phase of our festival preparations, but we'll have more soon. We are always committed at CHE PTO to avoid burdening volunteers with large assignments. Please help us to keep these vital efforts lighter, by sharing the load.

Stay tuned to take home folders for how you can help soon! There are a few ways that all parents can help by sending needed items, spread the word and etc. If you would like to do more, please email chepawprint@gmail.com

We are excited to work with you!

50 Men Who Can Cook

Friday, Feb. 2nd, 12am

1812 Welsh Avenue

College Station, TX

The 50 Men Who Can Cook event is the signature fundraiser for the CSISD Education Foundation.

Local community and school leaders are selected to prepare their recipe of choice including salads, soups, sides, entrées or desserts. Each Celebrity Chef is asked to bring 800, 2 oz. samples for our guests to taste at the event. Tickets are $60 each which gets you entrance into the event and includes all the food you can taste and adult beverages of your choice. This year mystery bags and a raffle will offer guests opportunities to support our schools. You also get to vote for your favorite appetizer/salad/side dish, soup/chili, entrée, and dessert for the awards that will be presented at the end to our Celebrity Chefs. This is an “adult-oriented” event and guests are discouraged from bringing children.

Check with our front office for tickets or visit the CSISD Education Foundation's page.

We are hoping to go more paperless in our communications. If it's important, we'll text you if you've signed up for remind with the PTO. Please note that many teachers also use remind. Be sure to sign up for each group.

We share even more info for parents through Facebook for the school here and for the PTO here. It is encouraged that parents toggle on "Get Notifications" on the top of our pages. Otherwise, many posts will not be included in your news feed without being boosted with an ad buy. We'd rather spend our money on the kids:)
