If you love books, reading, information, and technology, WE WANT YOU to join us for a day of fabulous fun and FREE professional development at Edcamp Library! This "unconference" is the perfect way to learn from other lovers of libraries and technology while earning those much needed summer professional development hours. iCon: 3rd Annual iPad Conference (All Levels)

GISD iCon will probably be different than any other professional learning (PL) experience you've had in GISD. This is an unconference based on the EdCamp model. This is a professional learning movement that has taken districts by storm and Garland is all in for our teachers. This is an unconference for teachers...and by teachers.

In this session, you'll receive strategies for strengthening diversity practices, new diversity resources, and a wealth of programming ideas. We will finish with marketing tips—after all, what's the point of having a diverse program if no one knows you're doing it?

Deborah B. Ford, JLG’s Director of Library Outreach, is an award-winning library media specialist and international speaker with almost thirty years of experience as a classroom teacher and librarian in K–12 schools. Traveling across North America, she does workshops, library coaching, and professional development for school and public libraries. Deborah is the author of JLG's Booktalks to Go and Everyday Librarian @ School Library Journal. She also maintains an award-winning coordinating online resource at LiveBinders.com.

iPad Apps and Digital Resources for the Secondary Librarian (MS/HS)

Explore apps for research and creation that will excite and engage even the most reluctant learner! We'll dive into MackinVIA, Google Apps, the new TexQuest resources, and a host of other cool tools. Attendees are asked to bring an iPad. A list of necessary apps will be emailed to attendees prior to the session.
