Miss Scherer's Weekly Update
Team 5B Humanities
Our Week (Sept 16th to 20th)
This week, learners practiced determining the Point of View of various texts. They used Chromebooks to demonstrate their understanding on FlipGrid. Students chose a sample of text and read it aloud to the computer as it recorded them. Then, they explained what the point of view was and the reasons behind it.
They were introduced to the Elements of Plot and the meanings behind each element. They used a rollercoaster as a visual for the Elements of Plot (Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution). They practiced determining the elements of plot of various stories.
In addition, they completed daily warm-ups and participated in Guided Reading Groups. We also started reading, "The Red Bandanna" as a teacher read aloud since the students took such an interest in learning more about the events of 9/11/01.
