Graduating Unto Adulthood

Consistency is Key!

Please try to remain consistent and on schedule with your students until the end- Thanks!

Ramadan Reflection

With students who are fasting, we need to recognize and help each other recognize that there will be behavioral changes and increases.

Sometimes we can be insensitive to how not eating for so many hours and changes in sleep habits can affect our students. It has always been difficult for our students, particularly those with health needs and lower functioning to maintain, and we see an increase in issues, as they also don’t understand all the nuances of whats going on.

This may be a time to use our staff as cultural liaisons to call home, ask about desires, explain what we are seeing and maybe there can be exceptions for school days. This has happened in the past for certain students who truly struggled and needed the nourishment.

PAES LAB Summary Reports:

Work Coordinators will be printing a summary report for each graduating student who has been in the PAES LAB.

This is a nice report about the tasks that they did and the level of interest.

The reports will be put in case managers boxes and you can add them to their portfolios.

Year End Celebration Requirements

There have been many concerns about safety at the end of the year.

There has been many questions regarding what is the last day of school for students who are graduating.

Graduates on team 2 and team 3 are able to come back to the Team Celebrations on June 9th.

That will be their final day of school.

Please provide me with a plan for each team on the 9th and the 14th- make sure there are opportunities for students observing Ramadan that do not include food/eating.

As we move forward into next school year, please advise families this will be for all students graduating, not just Team 2 & 3- The celebration on the day after graduation will be students’ last day.

T-Plus Bike Share

There is a second bike in the bike rack outside of door 16.

If a student asks to use it during their lunch period, please open the Bike Check Out sheet and verify that their name is on the 'Eligible Participant List'.Add the students name to the Bike Check Out, and let them ride.

If so, you can give them a key. Nathaniel had the good idea of keeping the keys with the bus tokens. The locks and keys are numbered.

There will be helmets in the main office.

Let Jake Nielson or Tom know if you have any ideas for improving the plan.

Parting Words from Margo

Margo wanted me to share this poem with you all as this is how she feels about Tplus.

“Bits and Pieces”

People. People important to you, people unimportant to you - cross your life, touch it with love and carelessness and move on.

There are people who leave you, and you breathe a sigh of relief, and you wonder why you ever came in contact with them.

There are people who leave, and you breathe a sigh of remorse and wonder why they had to go and leave such a gaping hole.

Children leave parents, friends leave friends, acquaintances move on.

People change homes, people move apart.

Enemies hate and move on, friends love and move on.

You think on the many who have moved into your life with hazy memory, you look on those present and wonder.

I believe in God’s master plan in our lives. People move in and out of each other’s lives, and each leaves his or her mark on the other.

You find you are made up of bits and pieces of all who have touched your life, and you realize you are more because of it and you would be less if they had not touched you.

Accept the bits and pieces in humility and wonder, and never question, and never regret.
