Gleaner’s Community Food Bank Cereal Drive
This year Silver Springs Elementary is going to join in the fight against child hunger by collecting cereal boxes for the ninth annual Gleaner’s Community Food Bank Annual Cereal Drive. Many children who receive free school meals go hungry when they are home for the summer. Last year, Gleaner’s Food Bank distributed more than a million servings of cereal to children in need in cities around southeastern Michigan, including Northville. Our goal is 100% participation! Please consider sending in at least one box of cereal to Silver Springs between May 21 and May 31 and drop it off in the boxes by the main office, because hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation!

Breakfast With A Buddy Thanks!
The PTA hopes the families who came to our breakfast enjoyed themselves. This is an enjoyable community event we look forward to each year. Thank all the parents who helped set-up, serve, and clean up. Thank you to the families who donated food, juice, and other needed items. Your time and generosity is very much appreciated. Thank you to Kate Leutheuser for organizing this event.
Keep Clipping those BoxTops!
As summer approaches, don't forget to keep clipping those BoxTops all summer long! Print the attached collection sheets as a fun reminder and goal for the summer - this will give us a great jump start for our next collection drive in the fall! This year we earned $750 with your clippings - let's go for $1000 next year - with your help, we can make it happen!
We're looking for a new coordinator for next year, which would come from support from our current coordinator - please consider this easy and impactful way to help our great school! All work can be done outside of school hours on your own time - there are 2 collection drives each year. For more information please contact our current coordinator, Michelle Cummings, at cummingsml@hotmail.com

Leader in Me Survey - Parent Survey
As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school we are always working to understand how we can improve. Please complete the survey below as part of an annual assessment to help all members of the school community (students, parents, and the adults who work at the school) understand how we're doing. Your responses will provide us with important information to help us become even better. All of your responses are completely anonymous. The survey should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Please try to respond to all items. Thank you!

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast - June 14th
If you have volunteered in any way to support our Silver Springs community, the Silver Springs Staff would like to say THANK YOU! Please join us at a Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on Thursday, June 14th, beginning at 8:15 AM in our library. Please feel free to bring your child/children to have breakfast with you!
ATTENTION PARENTS: Order your EduKit now!
Everything your student needs for the 2018-2019 school year comes packaged in one convenient box, customized to your teacher’s requests!
Each grade has a specific kit.
**Please note that the supply kits are simply suggestions of helpful items and are strictly voluntary, as the Northville Public Schools provide the necessary supplies and materials for your child's successful school experience.
After-School Activities Student Pick-Up
We keep the main doors locked for safety. Kids Club families have key fobs so that they are able to come in and sign their student out of the program. Please don't follow someone into the building. Thank you for your understanding in putting student safety first and we appreciate your effort to follow these rules.
Supporting the The 7 Habits at home!
Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw
What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.
“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”
“I find meaningful ways to help others.”
“I spend time with family and friends.”
“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Go for a walk.
2. Read a book.
3. Volunteer in your community.
4. Value the difference in others.
