Tegan Begley is our Mathematician of the Week: "Tegan has had a fantastic attitude this week! He has been excited about his learning and really engaged in class. He has been a good friend to others in the classroom this week. I am very proud of Tegan!" -Mrs. Reeves

Cookie Dough Fundraiser
All order forms are due Monday, October 8. Please do not send money in until this time.
Make sure each order form is legible and includes the student’s name and the teacher’s name along with parents phone number. If a student has more then one order form please be sure to staple them together. Making sure you have followed all the steps on the order form helps PTA process quickly for you.
Make sure the bottom of each order form is totaled.
If you have more than one student selling please keep them separated by homeroom, do not send in together.
Once Smokey Mountain receives our orders and finalizes everything with PTA, it takes 3-4 weeks for the dough to arrive.
You will have 1 week to collect the money and turn it in once you receive your dough.
Once we receive the dough we will schedule pick up times and try to work with everyone schedule. Cookie dough is good at room temperature for 21 days. It can be refrigerated for up to 6 months and kept in the freezer for 1 year. The cookie dough can be thawed and refrozen over and over.
One check per child’s order form please. Checks need to be made out to JAES PTA.
We will have a drawing for all the children that have turned in their ticket located at the bottom of the mega party page the first drawing is for $50 in sales by Wed Sept 26, 2nd drawing will be for sales of $100 by Friday Sept 28, 3rd drawing will be for $150 in sales by Monday Oct 1, 4th drawing will be for $200 in sales by Wednesday Oct 3, and the final drawing is for $250 in sales on Monday October 8.
We do have an online store MEP.ForFundsOnline.com School code 55993 unfortunately the cookie dough is not available online however there's lots of other great items that are available and shipped directly to your door. Your student and the school will get the credit for the online sales.
If the school as a whole meets our sales goal, everyone will get time at the mega party. The kids who sale the amount to earn the mega party will be recognized and have special privilege over the ones that did not reach the mega party goal.
This fundraiser will help us finish up our playground renovations, which begins on fall break! It helps us provide continued support to our teachers and their classroom needs, continuing family enrichment nights, continue providing support for kids that can’t afford field trips, yearbooks, school shirts etc. And so much more!

Social Studies- Reeves Homeroom
Secede: To formally withdraw membership Example: In a speech, John Calhoun, a Southern senator, threatened that the Southern states would secede from the Union.
Territory: An area of land. Example: The family moved from their home on the East Coast to settle in the new territory.
popular sovereignty: The idea that political power belongs to the people. Example: Some leaders encouraged popular sovereignty, the idea that political power belongs to the people, who should decide on banning or allowing slavery.
Compromise: When each side in a dispute gives up some of their demands to reach an agreement. Example: Bill and Jen reached a compromise when they agreed to take turns playing their favorite games.
Union: The states that made up the United States of America; during the Civil War, the states that supported the U.S. government. Example: When a territory's population reached a certain number, the territory could apply to join the Union as a state.
statehood: The condition of being a state in the United States. Example: Maine and Missouri applied for statehood during the 1800s.
legislature: The part of the government responsible for making laws. Example: The legislature passed a new law that lowered the legal speed limit.
Math
There will be a quiz over multiplication on Wednesday, October 3rd.
The first nine weeks math assessment will be on Friday, October 12th.
Science- Mohler Homeroom
Is matter conserved in all kinds of changes including ones where matter seems to vanish?
The stations will involve students collecting and recording data while looking at changes that occur with certain types of matter. There will not be an official quiz or test this week. However, the lab packet that students will fill out during stations will be graded.
