Due dates that are coming up:
1. WW/Brass audition video submission: by Saturday April, 25th @ 11:59PM
2. Jazz band auditions: May 1st

4. Percussion auditions: May 9th
End of the Year information
Now that school is closed until the end of the year we will post information here.
Instruments and Lockers
The band directors will be collecting all loose items/instruments for returning members that are in the band hall and make home visit drop offs.
We will begin the process of collecting instruments from Seniors/non- returning members in the next few weeks.
**All returning members will keep their same instrument at home for the summer and will take care of rental fee's once we return in July/August.
- Safety being the first priority, We will be sending information on how to generally clean your instrument at home before you drop it off at the loading dock.
- We will then create a sign up with time slots for you to drop off your instruments to the loading dock.
- Once dropped off, we will sanitize the outside of your case as you drop it off and let each instrument quarantine in the percussion room for 14 days.
- We then will create a second sign up for incoming freshmen to come pick up their instrument and include the same information on how to clean the instrument at home once more before playing. From that point all instruments should be usable for the students during the summer. We will keep track of the inventory through Cuttime and will collect rental fee's once we return in July/August.
Band Registration
We are moving Band Registration to June 1st in order to accommodate the needs of our senior parents and staff for our May 30th graduation adjustments.
Band registration will be done entirely electronically through membership toolkit and zoom.
- We will have a zoom meetings for incoming freshmen led by our boosters.
- We will be working alternative fitting days in June/July/August depending on when we are allowed to meet in bigger groups. (This process/detail is still in the works)
- All forms will be turned in electronically (google forms/sheets/docs) including physicals (PDF)
- Sheet Music links will be on the website/toolkit for students to access for next year.

***Non-returning, current HS band members will still submit a video that will count as their final grade for the semester. Seniors do not need to submit videos.

Spring Trip: Update
We have another update from Director's choice/Traveler's insured.
Instead of changing groups and then rendering claims invalid, they are going to manually change the dates for our families in all three Mckinney HS bands. From there we will be cleared to begin the filing process.
We have sent in the list of families who need date changes and are awaiting conformation that we are good to go.
I will be reaching out this week to families who have correct dates and can now begin filing. If you do not receive an email/call from me then unfortunately we have not gotten confirmation yet.

***Understand that this is a point of high stress for every director/travel agency in the country at this point. I do not have all the answers but you can rest assured that taking care of our families is the highest point of focus right now and doing right by you is my highest priority. I am doing EVERYTHING in my power to protect you and find solutions. If you reach out to me with trip questions, I will respond as quickly as I can within 24-48hrs. I appreciate all your grace and patience.
Physicals for 2020
The district physical dates have been canceled due to closures.
However, It is still required for all members to have an updated physical in order to participate for the 2020-2021 school year.
We will have to go "old school" and families will need to schedule an appointment with their physician or urgent care facility to complete their physical.
Carenow and many other urgent care facilities have lowered prices for band/athletic scholarships.

Once completed, please file these physicals in a safe place!
We will turn them in electronically (PDF form preferred) through our registration process. More instructions for registration will be out soon.
**No student will be able to participate in outside activities until we have this form on file.

Need some stress relief.....
Due to Covid19 closures, the following professional groups are giving free concerts through streaming for the foreseeable future.
I particularly enjoyed the metropolitan opera who is streaming a musical/opera a day!

Important information for Private lesson students/teachers
We are HIGHLY ENCOURAGING families who take private lessons to communicate with their teachers and work to the best of their ability to continue lessons remotely through Skype, Facetime or work out home lessons.
If you feel that you do not want to risk it, then we suggest "donating" your normal lesson fee's and working with your teacher to reschedule as necessary.
***This suggestion is for your discretion***:
We want to make sure that you are aware that teaching privately in some cases is the only source of income for many of our teachers. Any week/day that school is cancelled directly impacts their livelihood. Our teachers also have mortgages, rent, bills and groceries to take care of. Please keep this in mind when making your decisions.
