Summary
· In “Harrison Bergeron” and “The Lottery”, both texts have an act of murder in the story. Where in Harrison Bergeron, Harrison was murdered for believing that there should be equality. In The Lottery, Mrs. Hutchinson was murdered for winning the lottery.
Quote/Analysis "Harrison Bergeron"
Quote: “It was then that Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came into the studio with a double-barreled ten-gauge shotgun. She fired twice, and the Emperor and the Empress were dead before they hit the floor” (Vonnegut 5).
Analysis: This supports my thesis because it’s proving that people like them should have a voice they should have a right to have freedom. Harrison had not did anything wrong and he gets shot for feeling like he should be heard.
Quote/Analysis "The Lottery"
Quote: “A stone hit her on the side of the head. Old Man Warner was saying, "Come on, come on, everyone." Steve Adams was in the front of the crowd of villagers, with Mrs. Graves beside him” ( Jackson 7).
Analysis: This quote supports my thesis because they attacked a women just because it was a tradition. This type of lottery should not be traditional, people should not be killed just to have enough food for their town. Tessie had every right to speak up for herself this is an act of murder than should have been done.
