Leadership and Supervision
Erasmus+ KA-1 Course
Course Description
The idea of leadership is one that seems to constantly change. What was once valued in a leader in past centuries, is no longer valued in our modern era. So then, how do we define leadership? And is leadership the same as supervision?
In this Leadership and Supervision course, you will learn not only what makes a great leader, but how a person's attributes and skills can affect their leadership abilities.
We will also address the roles of problem solving and planning in the scope of leadership, as well as define the role supervision plays in leadership (and vice versa).
This course features several historical examples of real-life leaders and how their skills were able to cement their place in history as some of history's greatest leaders. All the leaders are addressed in-depth to give those taking this course a practical example to base their own leadership traits.
For anyone who thinks they may be a leader, and for all of those who want to be one, this course will give you a practical guide to becoming a powerful and respected leader. At the end of this course, you'll be able to apply what you have learned in a final exam that can show you if you have what it takes to be a leader that history will remember.
So...what kind of leader are you? And what can you do to improve upon your leadership skills? Join us today, and let's find out.

Course Lessons (7 days)
Day 1
Lesson One: What Is Leadership?
If a leader is filled with high ambition, and pursues his or her goal with courage and strength of will; he or she should reach their goal in spite of many obstacles.
Lesson Two: Notable Leaders
Good leaders make people feel that they are at the very heart of things, not at the periphery. Everyone feels that he or she makes a difference to the success of the organization. When that happens, people feel focused, and that gives them meaning.
Day 2
Lesson Three: Are Leaders Born or Made?
Are leaders born or made? This is a very common question, yet, it is a very difficult one to answer. Are leaders born with the qualities that will make them great, or are these qualities learned from life experiences? Perhaps it is a combination of these.
Lesson Four: How Does Supervision Relate to Leadership?
To be a leader, you have to make people want to follow you, and nobody wants to follow someone who doesn't know where he is going.
Day 3
Lesson Five: Leadership Problem Solving
One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency. Without problem solving skills, a leader will not be able to solve the many problems they will face in their lifetime.
Lesson Six: Planning
Few things are brought to a successful issue by impetuous desire, but most by calm and prudent forethought.
Day 4
- Lesson Seven: Supervising People
Day 5
- Lesson Eight: Leadership Mistakes to Avoid
You must never feel badly about making mistakes," explained Reason quietly, "as long as you take the trouble to learn from them. For you often learn more by being wrong for the right reasons than you do by being right for the wrong reasons.
Day 6
- Lesson Nine: Leadership and Productivity
Productivity is what drives everything from business to war. If there is no productivity, there is no ability to get things done and this erodes the chain of command.
Day 7
Lesson Ten: Various Cultures And Their Leaders
Different cultures view things differently. While Western culture finds certain aspects of the human body attractive, others find completely different ones attractive. It goes along the rationale of "different strokes for different folks".
Lesson Eleven: Are You A Leader?
A leadership test.
