A newsletter about middle school science at Kelly Miller MS
Wednesday, September 9, 2015 Middle School Science at KMMS
We are so excited to start a new year of science at KMMS. In 6th, 7th and 8th grades we cover the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). If you want to learn more about NGSS please go to www.nextgenscience.org! Our class will include field trips, expert visits, projects and presentations!
Design Thinking Lego Project
The 8th graders completed a design thinking Lego project during the first week of school. Problems need solutions!
Solar System Models
The 6th graders are learning about space. We assessed prior knowledge by creating a solar system model. Now we are revising our models based on our new evidence.
Wicket vs. Alf
During the first week of school, the 7th graders debated whether cars should be considered living things (in support of Alf) or against cars being considered living things (in support of Wicket)! Now we are learning how to REALLY classify things as living or no living!
Supplies for Science Class
Students were given a binder and dividers for science work that stays in the classroom.
Students need to have a pencil, highlighter, pen and paper in class daily.
Coming Up!
