Kindergarten News ACES

Week Of October 30th

Highlights From Last Week....

Thank you for your glow stick donations!!! We were able to raise money for our kindergarten field trip!! Thank you! We also have additional glow sticks to sell at a later date. A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Maillet's room parent, Mrs. Duquette, for organizing this fundraiser. She could really use some extra help with ideas and your company at the next PTO meeting! Thank you in advance.

We are so proud of our friends! We are learning so much and having fun at the same time.

In Reader's Workshop, we continued to look at the picture AND the first letter of the word to see if it makes sense! We continued to practice our other strategies as well: looking at the picture while we read, trading out books, practicing turning and talking.

In Writer's Workshop, we continued to learn how to write across the pages and add more details to our stories. We added color, speech bubbles, labels and details to our setting. Our friend's have come a long way in such a short time.

In Math, we work on adding one more. We will write numerals 1-10 in order. We will also solve word problems by acting them out. We also worked on one less.

In Phonics, we practiced letter sounds and reviewed our sight words up until this point. Our letters of the week were "e" and"r". Our sight words were "have" and "my".

We finished our unit on Community.

Our classroom is filling up with clothes that have no home! Please LABEL EVERYTHING!! If your child is missing sweatshirts or lunch boxes, please let me know.

Thank you!!

A Note from Mrs. Maillet

A huge shout out to Elise and Nicholas for their donations to the classroom. Thank you SO much!! Also, thank you to Nicholas' mom, Lily's Mom, and Mia's mom for volunteering this week!! With your help in the classroom, I am able to work one on one with each child to challenge each one of them at their level. It is really making a HUGE difference in their academic progress. Every child has grown so much and we haven't even been in school for 40 days yet!

Book orders went home last week. I will place the order on November 10th. If you are interested in ordering books, please have the order form filled out and sent to me on this date. Thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you for all that you do! I just LOVE all of your children!

A Note From Miss Driscoll

A very big thank you to those that were able to donate glow sticks for our Kindergarten fundraiser!

We have another very big week ahead of us. We will have our first Math assesssment. It will be amazing to see all they’ve learned so far. Please continue practicing letter and word cards at home. Please try to practice number recognition and number writing for numbers 1-10 with your child as well.

The book order went home last week for November, please return with your orders or order online by Friday, November 3! As stated above, we will be sending home the change of clothes you packed for your child in the beginning of the year so that you can send back some that will reflect the weather change.

Thank you for all that you do! Have a great week.

A note from Mrs. Goldthwaite

We had our first Fun Day Friday! Students were able to pick an activity that they would like to do as a reward of good behavior. This should happen each month. They were very excited.

I hope the students had a great time at the Halloween dance. Looked like fun.

We are going to have our first unit 1 test in math next week. I think they are all going to rock it!

I will be sending home another book order for scholastic books. It will come home on Monday. They will be due back on November 9th. I will place the order on the 10th.

Next week we will start a new unit in science about motion. If you have any size balls or objects we could use big, small, heavy , light.

Thanks for all the help in class and out of class. It is much appreciated.

A note from Mrs. Potter

Thank you to those who donated glow sticks for our kindergarten fundraiser! :)

The students have been working very hard and all of their hard work is starting to pay off! Please keep practicing the sight word cards at home. The kids are getting so excited when they are able to recognize and read their sight words in books from their book bags!

We have been working so hard on our counting, number recognition and number writing! We will be doing an assessment on our first math module this week.

Please remember to check and return red folders daily!I will be sending home a Scholastic book order home this week!

Thank you for all that you do :)

A note from Mrs. Marcoux

Thank you for the glow stick donations! Thank you also for the Clorox wipes, we can never have enough of those!

This week will be a busy one, in addition to our Halloween celebration, we will be having a visit from a real bee keeper! Mrs. Varteresian will be coming to our kindergarten classes on Wednesday to show our students what a bee keeper is. The students are very excited about it.

I will be sending home another Scholastic book order form. If we could have the orders back by November 9th, that would be great.

Have a great week and have a great time trick-or-treating!
