Medication Pick Up Reminder
As the end of the year approaches, we ask that parents make arrangements to pick up their child’s medication at the end of the school year. For student safety, medications are not allowed to be sent home with students. Also, we are not allowed to keep medication for the next school year. Please stop in the school office between the hours of 7:30-3:30. Medications need to be picked up by Thursday, June 6th or they will be properly disposed of. Thank you!
High School and Middle School Art Show
The Middle School and High School will do a joint Art Show at the district Fine Arts Night Wednesday, May 15 from 6-8 pm. Awards will be presented at 7pm. Students will be celebrating and showcasing all of the creativity going on in our schools every day. The "Arts" encourage, inspire and nurture the ideals that are integral to student's daily life. Students learn to create, form opinions and be innovative with materials through creative and imaginative projects, assignments, and art events. Students in the Wrightstown art program are learning to be 21st century thinkers, who can work and compete in a global economy.

Counseling Department Statistics
Senior student post high school plans as submitted by seniors:
60% of students going 4 year
24.4% technical college
13% world of work
1.7% unsure
.9% cosmetology school
All seniors who asked to have a counselor meet with them were met with, along with many others who checked 4 year college or 2 year tech college as their plan but had not applied yet. Students who were unsure or did not have a solid plan were also met with by a counselor prior to graduation.
100% of our students were advised by an educator grades 8-11 to whatever level of interest they wanted. Some students just chose to talk about classes, many others chose to discuss class choices and how they linked to post high school plans/majors/careers. Students were able to choose who they wanted to be advised by this year based on comfort level and common interest in a particular career area.
100% of our sophomores were met with in small groups for sophomore planning conferences discussing opportunities that exist at WHS such as the YA program, Early College Credit and Start College Now, as well as AP courses. Post high school opportunities are also discussed such as the requirements to get into 4 year universities, 2 year technical colleges, as well as discussion about the military, apprenticeship opportunities and going directly into the world of work. We review transcripts, and for some students this is the first time they really examine that document. This really is such a fun time to begin exploring what students can be doing right now in their present lives to prepare for their future. If anything it gets them to start thinking about life after high school, with little to no pressure. It is our hope that students either begin, if they haven't already, or just continue to explore how they might fit into a career in the future by using their strengths and talents.
Youth Apprenticeship Program: We had twelve students who participated in the Youth Apprenticeship Program which allowed them an opportunity to gain work experience with local businesses, earn money, as well as earn high school elective credit and college credit if desired. The areas of interest ranged from Health Science to Agriculture, and from Manufacturing to Construction and Finance.

Senior Class End of Year Info
Here is some helpful info for you as we roll into the month of May:
All seniors need to report to the counseling office as soon as possible to let us know your t-shirt size. If you want to email it to Mrs. Halfman, that would be great.
The senior graduation party will commence immediately following the ceremony on May 24th, and continue until 2:30am. Sign up for this in the front office, where you also need to pay $10. When you check in at the party, you will receive $5 back.
Baby pictures can be turned in to Mrs. Halfman in the counseling office. We need a hard copy with your full name on the back. This is for an activity at the senior graduation party. Please have these turned in by May 10th.
SCHOLARSHIP NIGHT is Wednesday, May 22nd at 6pm in the high school auditorium. Everyone is welcome, but only those receiving scholarships will get an invitation in the mail. If you know you are receiving a scholarship from your college/school, or another organization, and you want to be recognized at scholarship night, please bring us your information as soon as possible.
The Academic Awards ceremony immediately follows scholarships at 7pm, and runs similarly: everyone is welcome to attend, but only those receiving invitations will be recognized.
We will keep you posted in announcements and in your Class of 2019 google classroom on additional items as they get closer. Contact any one of us in the counseling office if you need the class code to join that classroom.
