Hanover Central Choir Goes Christmas Caroling!

Throughout the week leading up to Christmas break, the Hanover Central High School advanced mixed and women's choirs traveled to Red Cedars Elementary School, Jane Ball Elementary School, and Lincoln Elementary to perform some Christmas carols for the elementary schoolers of Hanover. The advanced mixed choir went to Park Place of St. John to perform more Christmas carols for the senior citizens of the community, where a lot of them sang along to the songs that they knew. Thank you, Mrs. Staton for making this happen and great job to the HCHS choirs.

More than just a "Little Drummer Boy."

HCHS bands put on an amazing concert by playing some classics and some fun, new versions of some of our favorite Christmas songs.

Don't Be a Scrooge...

Hanover Thespian Society presented A Christmas Carol from December 9th through December 11th.

The show was narrated by Mrs. Candlewick, played by senior Sarah O'Farril, and Mrs. Peartree, played by senior Claudia McMahon, in between dialogue. Ebenezer Scrooge, played by senior Steven Zalewski, is miserable man that hates Christmas. Since his business partner, Jacob Marley, played by junior Liam Rupp, passed away, Scrooge was left to run the business alone while treating his staff member, Bob Cratchit, played by senior Tristan Alkire, very poorly.

Scrooge is visited by the ghost of Marely where Scrooge is warned that if he doesn't become nicer, then he will have a terrible fate after death. Marley informs Scrooge that for the next three nights, he will be visited by three more ghosts, to which Scrooge does not take the warning seriously.

Throughout the visits from the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future, Scrooge beings to realize that he must change his ways. Freshman Abigal Wilk plays the ghost of Christmas past, junior Kaitlyn Duffy plays the ghost of Christmas present, and sophomore Madison Delay plays the ghost of Christmas future.

As the story concludes, Scrooge has completely transformed into a person of charity, friendship, and generosity. Christmas becomes his favorite time of year and he does all he can to help Bob Cratchit and his family. Junior Ellie Carpenter plays Mrs. Cratchit, sophomore Stephen Jackson plays Tiny Tim, sophomore Damon Larson plays Peter Cratchit, and freshman Ruthie Stone plays Belinda Cratchit.

The students of the Hanover Thespian Society did a wonderful job and thanks Mr. Gustas and Mrs. Staton for directing the show. We also would like to thank Lighthouse Church for allowing us to use their facilities to practice and perform our show since our school is still under construction.

Thank you to all of those in the community that came out to support our school!

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard!

Mr. BJ Hubbard donated his wife’s, Kay Hubbard, Wurlitzer piano to Red Cedars Elementary School of Hanover Community School Corporation. Mrs. Hubbard passed away in October of 2022. She accompanied many students from Crown Point that went to ISSMA and even accompanied the high school students when they went to Purdue to compete. Music teacher at Red Cedars, Emily Reed had Mrs. Hubbard help her and accompanied her many times with ISSMA. Ms. Reed sat to play the piano with tears in her eyes. Kay Hubbard’s piano will live on helping children for many more years.
