Woodside High School
Weekly Wildcat Notes: October 10, 2021
Message from the Principal
I am trying out a different digital newsletter platform called "smore" -- something I have used effectively in my previous schools. It allows for a more dynamic interface for photos, video links and announcing events. It also allows for users to select language translation by clicking at the top of the announcement. I welcome your feedback on whether this format works for you in staying informed and to be able to see some of the daily events taking place in the lives of our students and staff. In addition, I invite both students and parents to "follow and like" the various WHS groups on social media (Instagram and Facebook) for regular reminders posted by Grade Levels, Student Leadership, Athletics and more. Most importantly, we hope that ALL parents have access to Canvas and are synced up with their students. Click here for Canvas Log-In details.
We have a very full and exciting month of activities in October, so please make note of the Important Dates and Schedules starting with this week: 10/11 - 10/15 and NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, October 11th in recognition of Indigenous Peoples' Day, a Sophomore Parent Rewind Info Night on Tuesday, College Day Activities on Wednesday and the In-Person WHS Talent Show on Thursday (limited seating in the PAC) and our musical Marching Band performing in Santa Cruz next Saturday! Our Scholar-Athletes have been very busy balancing academics, practices and league games; please come out and cheer them on at home or away. I am looking forward to seeing our winning Cross Country Teams and the Girls Golf matches. Please join me in cheering on all our students and their passions in the pool, on the court, on the trails, on the fields, on the greens, on stage or in the streets of Santa Cruz--there's a lot going on at Woodside HS! In addition, some of our Green Academy students have the wonderful opportunity to kayak in Half Moon Bay learning about marine life with brown pelicans flying overhead.
It's great to be a Wildcat!
Enjoy your extended weekend,
Karen van Putten, Principal
