A Message from Mrs. Jones & Mrs. Kalfazade

During this season of giving, we are grateful for so many things....

We are grateful for the sweet smiles, warm hugs, and "good morning's" that greet us each day as our students arrive. They are our rays of sunshine each and every day!

We are grateful for the supportive partnerships from our families, who give back so much of themselves in the form of kind gestures, generous donations, time and energy. We appreciate you!

We are grateful for the home and school association, who continues to find ways to support our students, staff, and school. Thank you for everything that you do for us!

We are grateful for the New Albany staff, who pour their hearts and souls into our students to ensure they are loved and educated. Thank you for your warmth, caring, and dedication!

We are blessed to be part of an amazing school and grateful for these plentiful gifts that we receive daily!

As we embark on this last month of the year, remember to sprinkle kindness upon others whenever you can and lead with love and thoughtfulness.

Whether your family celebrates Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or another special occasion, we wish you a joyous holiday season!

Counselors Corner

Hello New Albany families,

The holidays are among us! Between our counselors Ms. Mohler and Mrs. Forcier, gratitude is an initiative we always try to teach students. Through lessons, discussion, and activities, we aim to instill this practice into their lives.

This holiday season, take a moment to have a discussion with your children. There is so much for us to be grateful for every single day.

Check out this article on how to help teach the act of gratitude to your children, not just during the holidays, but every day.

Happy Holidays!

Holiday Greetings from the Library

Reading stories featuring December celebrations are the perfect way to spend a chilly night together. Read to your child and have them read to you. Ask questions about the characters, the setting and what was their favorite part of the story. According to readaloud.org, there are many benefits to sharing a book together. “Your child may learn to read better, think better, imagine more richly, and become a passionate and lifelong reader.”

Expand your Children’s Social Awareness by Learning More Together

Because of the numerous holidays celebrated through the fall and winter months, it is an ideal time to discuss how people celebrate around the world – both the uniqueness of traditions and also the many commonalities. There are a great number of similar themes and symbols shared between the major world holidays. Most notably, the major holidays celebrate light in the darkness, show gratitude for food, family and life and pause for reflection or prayer. We hope you will take a moment to share these with your family. Happy holidays!
