Updated COVID Procedures for 2022- 23
Our health procedures are an important way City Schools keeps students and staff safe. For the 2022-23 school year, we are streamlining our COVID testing, quarantine and isolation rules to ensure all healthy individuals remain in school.
Dentist Visits at School!
We cannot wait to see all of our students' bright smiles back in City Schools! City Schools partners with Smile Maryland to offer in-school dental care for students. Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants when necessary, and in most cases, restorative care such as fillings. Dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and Maryland Healthy Smiles. A low-cost self-pay option is available for those without insurance.
Transportation
Have you mapped out your student's route to school? We are urging all families and students to start planning the trip to and from school now! Here are some helpful tips:
- Know what time your school day starts and ends. Bell schedules for each school can be found HERE
- If your student takes a yellow bus or receives curb-to-curb transportation, please call your school to make sure they have the correct address for your student.
- Know your route! If you take MTA to school, visit MTA's website to plan your trip. MTA is expected to post the fall schedules in mid-August.
Special Education Parent Workshops
The Parent Response Unit through the Special Education Citizens' Advisory Committee (SECAC) is hosting 2 virtual workshops for families with students with Special Education needs.
This two-part workshop series will help participants gain an overall understanding of special education, its purpose, and the process. At the end of these sessions, participants will understand:• The Steps of the Special Education Process and Parts of the IEP
• How to effectively work with the IEP Team
• Creating a vision for your child

Taking a hike into the past to understand our present
This past spring, students at the Mount Washington School concluded their combined unit in history and design technology with a whirlwind tour of three national parks. Says teacher Ryan Kaiser, “Students want to know what’s going on in the world right now. But to truly understand it, you have to know where we’ve been.”
