Igniting the Future~December 2, 2016
From the Principal...
Happy December!
In this season of giving, it is a joy to see that children and adults alike are sharing in the excitement this month holds! The holiday season is upon us and we have much to be thankful for. We have seen that sense of giving in many of the wonderful events taking place this month.
During the cold weather months, we are advised to use discretion and good judgment as to whether or not students will go outside for recess. Children should be exposed to fresh air and exercise. Time spent outdoors allows students an opportunity to engage in activities that allow them to relax from the structure of the classroom, at least for a short while. However, there are times when it is not safe for students to be outside. Please use the guidelines below as a tool for when school recess and other outdoor physical activity may be modified. The following conditions are considered in determining outdoor recess:
*Temperature
*Wind chill
*Condition of the playground
*Precipitation
With these conditions in mind, please be sure to send your child with the appropriate clothing [i.e. hats, mittens/gloves, boots, snow pants, scarf]. Please note that when the temperature and wind chill falls below 0 degrees students are kept indoors without further consideration.
Please keep your students academically active over winter break. Students can always read a book, practice math facts and problem-solving, or journal about a trip. Start planning now so you can take advantage of some of the great opportunities offered in the Indianapolis area.
Thank you for your generous hearts during this time of year. We hope that you and your family have many opportunities to share quality time with family and friends. We wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season as we progress through December!
Warmest Regards,
Jeffrey J. Murphy
Holiday Shop Coming Next Week...
The Holiday Shop is designed to be a safe, child-centered environment where children can learn how to budget and spend wisely, while they also experience "the gift of giving".
Gifts will range in price from $0.25-$8.00 with the majority of gifts being under $4.00. Please look for the special budget envelope to come home with your child before his/her shopping day. This will allow you and your child to decide together how much can be spent on each gift. Adult shoppers will then assist your child during the Gift Shop.
The Holiday Shop will also be open during our "Sweets with Santa" night for any parent wanting to shop with their student.

Car Rider Procedure and Car Rider Tags...
When dropping off your student(s) in the morning, please keep in mind that if you choose to park your car and not wait in the car rider line, you must walk your student in to the building.
There should be no more than 2 tags issued per family. Please pass your tags back and forth between family members if more than 2 vehicles will be used for car rider.

Infinite Campus...
DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO ACCESS INFINITE CAMPUS (IC) TO CHECK GRADES & HOW TO ADD YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS TO INFINITE CAMPUS:
Did you know that you can see what your child's grades are before report cards or midterms come out? Did you know that you can see if your child has any missing work that needs to be made up and turned in? Well, YOU CAN!
INFINITE CAMPUS (IC) is the answer!
If you already use it, great! Keep checking it (about once or twice a week) to see if your child is turning in his or her work on time, or how he or she is doing on assessments (assessments are tests and quizzes).
You may also use infinite campus to check fees due, make demographic changes, and schedules.

Planning to Visit Our Building? Please Preregister...
This applies to all visitors each time they come to our building. Our volunteers with background checks on file need to preregister so we know they will be on the property.
