The Pershing Elementary Newsletter

Principal Message

Good Evening Pershing Families,

First, thank you to all of our families, parents and guardians, for how hard you are each working to support our students in their distance learning. If I could treat you each to your own favorite dessert, I would! We all deserve a reward for the hard work we have put in getting through these challenges. In addition to continuing to support students and staff in distance learning, our Pershing team is actively working out the nitty-gritty details of the transition to hybrid learning. Preparing for this transition is a new creative adventure - and a sweet one with a reward at the end! Seeing students in person will be so incredibly rewarding!

While we do not yet have a date, we want everything ready for students and staff to be successful when we transition. When this change occurs, it will impact all of us, even if your child is continuing with learning at home through cohort C. I will send updates more frequently so everything is as clear as possible when the time comes to transition. As soon as information is made available to me about specific dates, I will be certain to share it with everyone.

COVID & Hybrid Transition Updates

Every week, the District provides an update here: https://www.sanjuan.edu/covid19

This week is Read Across America week and with it we have fun themes for students each day, concluding with "Wear your favorite clothes and read your favorite books"! (See more below.) If your child is in need of additional reading material, please help out and send Mrs. Williams a request for book topics! She will contact you and coordinate a pick-up for books. Just fill out this google form: Pershing Library Form

Thank you, again, as we continue through the challenges of distance learning. The amount of grace and support many of you have provided with a kind word of support to teachers and to staff has made a difference.

Be sure you scroll all the way down to the bottom of this week's Panther Press for more local information from OV Parks and Rec. If you have questions, needs, or suggestions, please reach out. Call 916-979-8076 or email me at kendra.shelton@sanjuan.edu. Please remember to be safe, continue to practice all those great safety protocols, and be kind to one another.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kendra Shelton

Principal, Pershing
