Message from our District Office | Intent to Return for 21/22 School Year

As we prepare for the new school year, with the first day of school on August 9, 2021, we anticipate a full return to traditional in-person instruction with adherence to all safety and health protocols. To finalize student schedules with course selection and staffing needs, we are requesting all parents indicate whether their child will return to school for full in-person instruction or require a virtual learning option. Please review the information (video message and FAQ) regarding 2021/2022 Return to In-Person Instruction.

You will commit to one of the instructional models for the Intent to Return for 2021/2022.

  • Option 1: In-person instruction: This traditional model is designed for students coming to school on campus. Instruction will be provided by classroom teachers. Students will attend the full day every day (5 days per week subject to change based on capacity limitations due to adequate spacing of students), for example, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., which includes break time and lunchtime. The in-person instruction will be like the traditional instructional model where the teachers are teaching in-person students, different from the Spring 2021 hybrid model. At any time Public Health directs closure of a classroom or the entire school due to COVID-19 exposure, students and teachers will revert to the Distance Learning model for a temporary time.

  • Option 2: Virtual Learning: Virtual Learning will only offer core courses and a limited number of electives. This model is for students who will commit to online learning for the entire school year. Students will be assigned to teachers through an online program. They will be required to log in daily and complete work during the school day in addition to assigned work by online teachers.

By signing up for Virtual Learning, parents are fully aware of the following:

  • Students are committing to online learning for the 2021/2022 school year
  • Core courses and a limited number of electives will be offered
  • Students log in daily and complete work during the school day
  • Students are taught by WVUSD teachers
  • There is no guarantee that virtual learning students will stay assigned to the current school for students who choose virtual learning.

If you have additional questions, please email the district through Let’s Talk.

On AERIES Parent Portal, please indicate whether your child will attend school in-person or join the virtual learning for the 2021/2022 school year by Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

A response is required for your child to be successfully counted towards enrollment for the 2021/2022 school year (the first day of school is August 9, 2021).

Attending traditional school for in-person instruction every day (5 days per week subject to change based on capacity limitations due to adequate spacing of students); OR Join Virtual Learning for 2021/2022 School Year

Please see the video and the directions on how to access Aeries Parent Portal to complete your Intent to Return for 2021/2022.

Any students returning to in-person instruction must have their immunizations up to date.

Your school principal will provide additional information specific to the school site for the new school year.

Sincerely,

WVUSD Educational Services

ATTENDANCE COUNTS!

Please remember that attendance counts, every period, every day. Students will be marked absent if they are not on camera at the beginning of each period to verify their attendance.

If your student is having difficulty logging in, please contact your teacher immediately, and remember to clear their attendance by the end of the day.

All single-period absences will need to be reconciled through the attendance office by the student. If marked absent, students will receive an email from the attendance office notifying them that they have been marked absent. The notification will include the date and period of the absence. The student will need to contact the Attendance Department to make any necessary corrections to their individual period attendance. For full-day absences, a parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by the end of the day.

We are so happy to see all of our students online and learning. They are working hard and making us proud. Keep up the great work!
