Families will be able to submit a completely edible house for the competition on December 11th. Judging will occur the following week by students and families. More details to come.
Kindergarten Registration 23-24
Never too early to plan ahead! We will continue to complete kindergarten registration online as we have done for the past two years. The process will begin February 6, 2023. We will be posting information for the 2023-2024 kindergarten registration on the district website in December. Questions should be directed to Aaron Knoth.
Community Harvest Food Drive
South is proud to support the Crystal Lake Food Pantry and looks forward to participating in the 32nd annual Community Harvest Food Drive. Last year, District 47 schools donated 7,723 pounds of food, which equates to nearly 6,500 meals! See this year’s flyer for most wanted food and household items. Monetary donations are also appreciated; checks can be made payable to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, November 16. We have a box in our entryway for any donations. Thank you for supporting the Crystal Lake community!
Conference Snack Sign-Up
As a reminder, the PTO is planning to provide a variety of snacks and drinks for the teachers during our upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences, and we need your help. Click here to check out the online sign-up sheet. Please plan to drop off all donations to South Elementary on Tuesday, November 15 through Thursday, November 17 from 8:15 AM - 3:30 PM. Ring the buzzer at the front door, explain why you're there, then leave the items by the front door; the front office staff will grab the items.
If you don't have time to pick up any items from the list, but still want to help out you can send in cash, checks made payable to SOS PTO, or pay online here. We will grab the snacks for you! Any amount is greatly appreciated. Email hollymhawes@gmail.com with any questions.
Weather Information
As the cold weather approaches, please make sure that your child/children’s winter items are labeled with their names on them. Please have children properly dressed in a coat with other winter accessories as needed. Students go outside whenever the temperature permits. Students should have coats, hats, and mittens since they will be outside to enjoy the fall and winter weather.
Guidelines for students being outside at school are:
If temperature is 15 degrees or warmer the maximum time out is unlimited
If temperature is zero to 15 degrees the maximum time out is 20 minutes
If temperature is below zero the students are inside
