Description
Temporary (in most cases) form of diabetes in which the body does not produce adequate amounts of insulin to regulate sugar durning pregnancy.
Symptoms
- Unusual thirst
- Frequent urination
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Blurred vision
- Sugar in urine
- Frequent vaginal, bladder, & skin infection
Risk Involved (If not treated)
- Large birth weight
- Premature delivery
- Increased change of having c-section
- Slightly increased risk of fetal & neonatal death
Treatment Options
- Close monitoring on you & your baby
- Monitoring of blood glucose levels
- Diet & Exercise management
- Insulin therapy, if necessary
