Dear Parents and Carers,
Christmas has truly arrived at Kirk Fenton this week! We have put our tree up in the hall and classrooms have been decorated. Nativity rehearsals are well underway in Early Years and the sounds of Christmas songs and carols can be heard from other classes as I go about school. It is so lovely to hear! As last Sunday was the first Sunday of advent, we have started to think about the Christmas story. Although it is very familiar, please do ask your children about it.
This week has been another busy week in school and it has been great to see lots of hands-on science taking place as I have been in and out of classes.
Over the next couple of weeks we have over a hundred new tree saplings and 600 bulbs to plant in the school grounds. We are hoping to collect some full sized gardening tools to help us with this task (the ones designed for children aren't strong enough). If you have any trowels or small forks that are sturdy that you no longer need or use, we would be very grateful if you could drop them at the school office. Thank you in advance.
Finally, a covid update: Our case numbers remain low but following the recent change in guidance staff are now back to wearing masks in all communal areas and corridors. Please continue to look out for any signs or symptoms in your children, keep hand washing and where possible, continue with twice weekly lateral flow tests. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Times Tables Rock Stars
This week we challenged the children to improve their speed across the school. We started in 20th place in the local area, and we've jumped up to 17th! These children hugely improved their speed this week: Isaac in Wolves, Finn in Jaguars, Henry C in Earthworms and Oliver G in Sharks. Well done to all! Next week we're aiming to get down to 13th!
Also a big well done to Wolves for winning class of the week!
