Lake Hood Elementary
Behavior Expectations - March 2013
Principal's Message
As we close out the 3rd quarter, enjoy Spring Break, and begin looking toward the last 9 weeks of school, I am amazed at how quickly this school year has flown by.
When we return to school after the break, we will begin working and focusing on SBA testing, which will happen for the 3rd through 6th graders during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of April. In addition, 4th graders will be taking the science test on March 28th. Teachers have been and will continue, working through the practice tests with their classes, and helping students to feel confident and ready for their yearly assessments.
The information from the SBAs helps us determine how individual children are progressing as well as how our school is doing in the area of reading, writing, and math. The information will also help our school staff identify areas in which our students are learning successfully as well as those areas we want to address in training and staff development. SBAs require the students to read, write, calculate mathematically and explain in writing how they figure out solutions to mathematical problems.
Here are a few ways that YOU can help your students be prepared for the testing:
*Make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep each night before testing.
*Help your child have a good, healthy breakfast.
*Get your child to school ON TIME, and do not schedule any appointments during the days of testing.
Thank you for all that you do to support your child’s education. It is truly a partnership between the school and the families.
Have a restful break!
Cindy
